It does. It spawns you on the edge of the track, half on that little pile of boxes in the middle which is close enough to get whacked by the train.

you’re directly on the boxes, it’s fine if you don’t move forward

Reserved slots are really retarded atm, the two slots should be hidden, so that you could queue to the server with auto join.
