If you are paranoid, wear a surgical mask. Also, don’t use used needles (duh) and don’t hug dead people who died of the virus, since they are still infectious (sadly, many people do this in the most affected countries).

Ebola is highly pathogenic with a short incubation time, which actually works against its spread.

You are more likely to die from influenza or in a car crash (good news?).

Highly unlikely it will develop into the sort of mass hysteria you see in movies in European countries. If such a thing was to develop chances are governments/health services have plans in place. Don’t be paranoid about it, even in the poorer countries the amount of infected number in the hundreds, that’s a tiny percentage of their population.
