As mentioned in an earlier post, we are arranging to have 4 top teams of equal strength spend one evening playing 4 of the custom maps submitted to the ETF2L Mapping Contest, and rate the maps regarding how well they play in 6v6.

Whichever map receives the best ratings will be crowned the winner of the contest! The winning map will get a 1-day cup hosted by ETF2L and it will be in the primary map pool for Season 6! The 2nd and 3rd best maps will at least be in the 2nd map pool for Season 6 (announced by dAyKiLLeR).

I have been quite busy lately (and I will be for another month), and I have discovered that it takes too much time/is too difficult to contact each top clan and try to figure out a date that fits four clans.

So instead I have come up with 3 possible dates.

(A) Monday June 15th, 20:00-22:30 CEST (before UKeSA)
(B) Sunday June 28th, 20:00-22:30 CEST (between UKeSA and TCL)
(C) Wednesday 8th July, 20:00-22:30 CEST (after TCL)
(D) Monday 13th July, 20:00-22:30 CEST

I want all division 1 teams (and top div2 teams) to reply to this thread if they want to participate in this event. Reply with team name and which dates you can play, for example: “dignitas, A+C”

Remember, this is your chance to decide which new map will be pickable, even in division 1!
I really hope that all division 1 teams will respond to this thread.

Please do not spam this thread with anything else than signups for this event. If you have questions or comments, create a new thread.

The date for the event will be announced as soon as possible.

As I wrote in the post, please don’t write anything else in this post expect signups. If you have comments start a new thread or write in one of the other threads in this forums.

I do agree though. I suppose we will have to widen the search to div2 teams as well.

Therefore I will encourage any team that currently plays in div2 to sign up for this.
I have also added a new date (see initial post) since date A won’t be possible anymore.

Look. Not trying to be a dick. But this needs resolution NOW. I’ve waited months upon months for final feedback from the community, relying solely on US involvement for progress. But I had to speed up my map’s dev to make the deadline for this contest, and for naught. I’m getting close to releasing the final version of yukon, without a word from ETF2L as to high level balance. These are the issues that need DOZENS of games, not singular matches, to truly test what the situation might be. The advantage of a custom map is that you all can have your input on it, and have it improved for play instead of issuing a _pro version! Where’s the involvement? How hard is it to get teams to play the game??

If you scrim (AND SURELY YOU SCRIM) just pick a night and do a custom map! And then do another one! And another! Whenever you can, try something different, because the ability to adapt to new situations will undoubtedly improve your team- you don’t have to rehearse the same tired plays!…

When can we -seriously- expect this thing to have some closure? Because I’d hate to have to release a final version without any feedback from one of TF2’s larger comp communities.
