Dakka's New Dedi Server.

Ok, well last night i had a shock as a mate, gave me a dedi server.
I wanted to know a few things.

How many servers could this run @ 66 tick.
Also any request as to stuff we could put on it?

Spec’s

2.4 Dual core e6600 i think.
2Gb Ram
74gb WD Raptor drive.

Bandwidth unlimited.
Net Speed arround 100mb download & 40mb upload.

24 Man Server Public.
connect 81.19.209.160:27015 (Stats coz we all love stats of spamfests.)

This will be stricktly NO criticals, 20 Min map times. Rotation competative CP maps, UK & US. (this server has fast downloads enable incase people dont have some of the maps. E.G cp_prolane.)

6 Man BBall2 Server. (class limits, no unlocks, But stikies still do dmg atm.)

That should run 4x 16slot TF2 servers no problem as a rule of thumb, Can probably do what you have there atm, plus another couple of match servers. Give me a buzz on steam if you need a help setting anything up. ;)

Stats are sorted on the public server :)

We’re hoping have a server that is friendly to competitive players, so if people can suggest settings and maps it would be cool :)

My suggestions for some maps that should be in the rotation:

cp_badlands
cp_coldfront_b1
cp_fastlane (or cp_prolane?)
cp_freight
cp_granary
cp_labor
ctf_turbine (despite my constant raging at it, it is a pretty fun map)

If you are wanting this public to appeal to competitive players you might want to set up something like NE have for their Mumble server where you type !mumble and it connects you (assuming the player the client installed).

About your bball server:

Please put it on ctf_bball2,
add class limits (nothing but soldiers, demomen get boring as hell when they run around with swords or use stickys),
add a plugin for no unlocks (with or without the equalizer I dont know but after playing today there where alot of situations where the equalizer got me a cap, but whether thats a bad thing or not, only you can decide),
add a timelimit/winlimit so the map resets every 100 caps or something so to make people compete for last cap etc,
add a votekick / voteban (dunno how vital that is but can be handy, but can also cause problems if 2 or 3 people from a clan join and want to play alone they just votekick the others (again really your decision if thats bad or not))

Also, im really interested in this mimic server idea, what does it intail? If its what i think it is i’ll try and convince CiC to host one to.

Oh and also on the public could you run something similar to the ETF2L config in everything except for round/windifference setup (leave those at defaults?).

I mean for the spread/damage variance etc.
