The most influential person in competitive TF2 is probably the unknown guy staying in some cellar behind a wall of concrete and sealed doors and has a computer and he frequently clicks the “upload new TF2 update files to the game source code and make all competitive players unhappy and make all pub players happy” button. After that whole competitive TF2 world twists his neck trying to make a compromise about rules.

id like to clarify that according to Springer, it was infact Arnold that invented the FaN so therefore he is the most influential person ))

Arie – without Arie TF2 would be dead. That dude set up all the servers stv’s shoutcasts all that good stuff in the background and never really got any recognition. Fakkel brigade are the real heroes of comp TF2 kept it all going, put in so much time and their own money.
