Why can’t just you, tf2pickup.net guys and shrike all work together and create a joint bug-free pickup site that supports HL, 6v6, bball and ultiduo? This has been bugging me since forever… We have had dozens of broken pickup sites, and not a single one that has retained community presence, we desperately need one major site that supports all competitive gamemodes and has a good quality control over players.

There are limits to the funds, experience and patience a person can have. There’s your answer.

More people working together = less costs per team member and more collective experience across the team.

As for patience.. well.. you can’t be a programmer without that

This question would require an advanced psychological and a technical answer, which I will not bother with. In short thou: It’s about egos and skills.

All the basic things are working at the moment, still huge amount of code needs to be rewritten in order for system to work properly.
For now, I made a few screenshots for the most impatient ones:

Will this contain some of the features and flexibility of the HL mix spreadsheet currently in use, just with steam integration and a clean UI?
At the moment we have multiple mixes at any one time scheduled up to days in advance at times, people can sign up as substitute, we can reserve slots for others, we can set skill requirements and the mix creator has ultimate say over who plays. People also have to be in the Colony steam group to use it, so they get announcements on steam when somebody puts up a new mix.

It looks really cool, but it may be difficult for it to reach critical mass if it releases with a much reduced feature set to what we already have. The demand is definitely there though, the mix spreadsheet frequently sees 10+ mixes a day sometimes as of late.

Hope I’m not being too negative bc it looks good :P

I’m afraid there won’t be fixed schedule mixes, at least not now.
From the start, the point of this pickup was to replace irc bot, and, accordingly, its functionality. Otherwise, it’s going to become another lobby instead of a pickup.
But yeah, I will see what I can do about it.
