I’ve gotten interested in joining ETF2L recently and got a bunch of people as eager as I am to get started.
I have, however, encountered a problem with the site in that I can’t get answers for some easy questions, namely, how does one progress through the divisions and when does a season start/can you enter during a season and when do you have to sign up. I managed to find the answer for the progression question but I am still clueless regarding the latter questions. Can anyone help me out, please?

Sign ups for season 13 are open right now. You can create a team via the team admin button at the top. Then click on competitions on the left of the team admin page and you should see season 13 sponsored by Blah blah.

To progress through the divisions you need to either finish first or second in your current division or have screenshots showing you can hold your own in whatever division you think you belong in. Winning any div six will get you promoted to div 5. You don’t need to get to 6a before you get to 5l or whatever.

Good luck and check out the ‘new to comp’ thread in the tactics section of the forum for some help and guidance. http://etf2l.org/forum/tactics/topic-12510/?recent=358642

All the info for seasons can be found in the news section(front page), and is always posted a good time before the season actually starts.
The next season (season 13) is open for signups right now and all the general season information can be found in the news tab ( http://etf2l.org/2012/08/22/season-13-powered-by-tt-esports-prizes-signups-a-ban/ http://etf2l.org/2012/08/18/highlander-nations-cup-1-roundup-season-13-maps/)
You can sign up during a season in the first weeks but you’ll be put on a waiting list and get a replacement spot if a team drops in the first couple of weeks. If I remember correctly the entry division is div 6, but if you can prove that you are skilled enough(match result screenshots), starting in div 5 is also possible. To progress through a division you need to win your table in a season or submit skill level proof when signing up for a season.

First of all, welcome to ETF2L!
You usually start in division 6 (which is the entry division). If you win your division or come in second, you get promoted to the next higher division. It is also possible to jump divisions or start in a higher division with a new team but this requires some proof that your team is capable of playing at the desired level (e.g. screenshots of practice wars).
The season start is usually announced about a month before it actually starts. A provisional draft for the next few seasons (Highlander and 6v6) can be found here: http://forums.etf2l.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=316
At some point the divisions for the next season will be released. From that time on, you can still sign up with your team but it will be placed on the waitingg list and has a chance to replace dropping teams for the first three playweeks of a season.
The signups for Season 13 are open until September 7, after that you team will move to the waiting list.
We are aware of this problem, by the way, and will publish a Season 13 information hub soon (hopefully today).

Another (little) question. Where can I change/(add) an avatar? I’ve been to my profile page and that adming page thing and couldn’t find an option to upload an avatar anywhere

Insert your steamID, your etf2l profile uses the avatar you have on steam.

again, thanks for the quick reply! I tried to add my steam ID before but it gave me an error message. My only guess is that that’s the case because I used a custom ID. I’ll try to revert back to my old one

You’re thinking of your steamID64(commonly known as profile url and such), what you’re supposed to be typing in is your steamID32(which people just call steamID).
For an example, my steamID64 is 76561197994372286
(http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197994372286) whilst my steamID32 is 0:0:17053279.
So when someone asks for your steamID, they’re talking about the STEAM_0:x:xxxxxxxx and not your profile ID.

You can find your steamID(32) on sites like http://steamidfinder.com/ by entering the url to your steam page, the site will then show you your steamID.

alrighty, my steam ID is now connected with me profile on this site. My avatar isn’t showing for some reason. I assume that takes some time?
