Surprisingly, there do exist plenty of people who use last.fm to share their music with their friends…

Seraph, what’s wrong with what.cd in itself? I find it useful to find rarer music, or music of a different quality than is commonly available. Personally, if you want to find “Pretentious Hipster Shits”, try out /mu/.
Oh I love what.cd as a site. It’s an amazing resource that’s very well coded and an absolute pleasure to use.
It’s its forum denizens I take issue with. I spent a while reading its forums and, in particular, its power user forums. Literally 80% of the topics could be encapsulated by “everyone who doesn’t use FLAC is a dumb faggot” or ” I SMOKE CIGARETTES LOOK AT ME!”. I was not impressed.

Ahh, I haven’t checked out the forums in the couple of years I’ve had an account, probably glad I didn’t now. I check out /mu/ every now and again, they got me listening to a few good bands (King Crimson, Teargas & Plateglass), but they’re far too pretentious to be taken seriously.
One thing what.cd is amazing for, is zero hour comics releases, got to love them.
