Hi there.

I also seem to be having the same troubles as others. Everything is installed as told by the instructions, however when I double click the Shortcut (That has all the proper addons to the end of the Target Path), all that happens is the TF2 Beta is opened in a screen.

Is the Film Maker supposed to open instead? Or how is this supposed to open? Pressing Ctrl-L in the main menu (Or after loading a map) does no good.

Ok, I figured it out! I somehow put the enginetools in the main TF2 folder, NOT the bin folder!

I re-installed, put the EngineTools (which consisted of the p4lib.dll, enginetools.txt and tools folder) ALL in the bin folder.

From there, everything ran without a hitch! The program kicks in automatically when you load the Shortcut.

How to fix it:
Its hl2.exe you create the shortcut for.
NOT LAUNCH_TF2.exe

I am running Win7 64bit, I was getting the same error until I had installed the tools, so make sure you have all tools in the right folders.

I have this same exact problem. I put all the enginetools in the bin (the tools folder, engine tools text document, and p4lib.dll), I’ve tried using both the FINAL_FIX_ADVANCED and the TF2_HOTFIX rars on separate Install occasions, yet the same thing keeps happening.

I’m running Windows 7 32 bit but I’ve tried compatibility mode for Vista (each service pack) and XP (each service pack). I’ve also tried Run As Administrator.

I’ve heard to just let it sit after the window disappears and give it time to run, but I’ve sat there for a good 10 minutes just to have nothing happen.

Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, is it still possible to get the right TF2 beta version somewhere? :/
