This thread is funny because its about 3 years too late. Most of the people posting here completely missed on all the substantial attempts in the past are totally oblivous to why most of them failed. Actually the mere existence of this thread shows that not much has changed.

That is no reason not to try.

Arguing about something makes absolutely no difference, this is just a topic for discussion I understand that but if you want to help people the best thing I ever did to get people into competitive TF2 was persuade people from my public TF2 community to play Highlander. I tried to get them into 6v6 and failed but they saw the appeal in Highlander and now I am on a team with them and enjoying every second of it.

Sitting on forums for 6 hours typing won’t make a difference, I been there and done that on these forums myself. Playing the game and engaging people, socializing and showing people organized and competitive TF2 can be fun is a practical method. You won’t have more fun in TF2 if you play with your friends you’ve known for 4 years in something you can all enjoy.

Just my addition to this discussion – Cube by the way, I love you for your videos and for having a voice almost as mellow as mine.

Yeah, discussion is all well and good, but can we actually get some volunteers.

So far what needs/can be done:

Some make a website/sub-section of VanillaTF2 and have a resources to help people start teams. Talk to some people in NA and coordinate with them to make this happen.

Second is I still need someone to help me manage the Newbie Mixes, as this is a great way to great way to get around starting a team, takes a lot of effort out of it.

Third, more streaming, I think this would help a shit ton.

Lastly, if you pub and see a pubstar ask him if he wants to mix. If you play on a community server, ask them if they want to make a team. This stuff is easy and everyone can do it.

1) Perhaps suggest this directly to VanillaTF2? They have an IRC channel…

2) Ask people directly, very rare people will volunteer for something. Heck even Ashkan asked me to become an admin.

3) Loads of people streaming but not everyone is there on Team Fortress 2.tv though. Not everyone is aware of where to go to watch streams. Also I do think Europe needs some more people streaming – I liked watching Kaidus’ point of view seeing someone in Prem playing my class but he stopped probably because of how much it affected performance. In North America you have like two people who live stream themselves playing Highlander Pyro, not just 6v6 players. Europe needs to catch up in this respect I can’t see why though people couldn’t do what Greg is doing, review his own STV demos and talk about it what he was doing – maybe record mumble comms as well.

Lastly – I prefer to leave people alone and focus on what I enjoy. Anyone could play this game at Div 6 level 6v6 or Highlander, all they need to do is be aware of competitive TF2. We promote the leagues through various sources, if people want to get involved they can do so if they look for it. I didn’t know if TF2 had a competitive gamemode when I started but I got curious and looked for it, I found ETF2L.

1, Its not too late, just because TF2 was released in an economical “low” its possible to still evolve.

2. Need more teams, if you support noob mix groups, mentors teams or creates new teams doesnt matter, as long as you do something.

3. Lans with large prizepools, not an easy thing to do but is crucial to get the masses interested in TF2.

Well that is the god damn problem, we need people who are willing to just do stuff without being sought out.

It is always the same 10-15 people who do most things in this community. A few more would really help…

I do not want to sound rude here but… how about YOU message Crashite instead of waiting for HIM to message YOU?
Also, people saying “someone could” or “someone should” should do it themselves, that would solve a lot of problems. Did I just say “someone should”?

erm to be fair, for once I can’t get on steam <3 due to lack of internet. I am doing this all at work.

What you can do is add Chaplain. Tbh I really need to get it sorted, if you do add Chaplain, tell him we need to clean out admins.

Try to remove anyone in a team from group.

Then get a stabel 12-16 admins who can do 1 mix per week between two.

Crash I can start admin again, got a bit more free time atm.
I can do promo, general admin and community stuff and the very occasional mix

if you haven’t got steam I don’t know how to contact you :p
I will keep my steam mobile on today in case you do.

I also like the idea of what hildreth said wit effectively just giving players food for thought. rather than doing everything for them. noobie mix is a great taster of 6v6 but we should have a much more rapid turnaround of players going into pixel pickup and etf2l if you want to make it work.

There was talk a while back about a website for noobie mix to make the admin and organisation easier.

Quakelive was kicked from IEM in favor of LoL, the FPS-Genre is doomed anyways.

Thank Fuck.

Hmm, guess I will have to work something out. Anyways, what is needed at the moment is purely a clean out. If you and Chaplain can get talking about that. Maybe rope in Monkeh, and start cleaning that would be fucking awesome. Also if I draph up a message for the group would you mind posting it. Although I think it can wait. Just want to get a message out about how we are going to clean up and get regular mixes going. Which I will commit to.

Yea that fine buddy. Can finish a final draft for you if you like.
I think we should start more promo of noobie mix again rather than getting rid of inactive admin first that could really shoot ourselves in the foot. As many lurkers may come back, such as myself

Will be around thurs evening after clan games if you wanna do a meeting

going out for the day catch me on steam or text
