Highlander Nations Cup #2: Groups Announced!
The groups have been seeded and drawn, with 6 groups of four teams and 2 groups of five teams with the winners and runners-up from each group proceeding to the knockout stage of the cup. You can find the full group listings HERE. The schedule for the group stages is as follows:
Group Stage:
- Week 1: Played between Monday 8th – Friday 12th
- Week 2: Played between Saturday 13th – Wednesday 17th
- Week 3: Played between Thursday 18th – Monday 22nd
- Week 4: Played between Tuesday 23rd – Saturday 27th
- Week 5: Played between Monday 8th – Friday 12th
- Tiebreakers: Played between Sunday 28th – Thursday 1st
Groups with 5 teams will have 5 Weeks, as the uneven team count results in a bye week for some teams. For Group G and Group H, teams must play their Week 5 matches within the Week 1 deadline. This may be extended to the Week 2 deadline if both teams agree. There will be a comment on the affected match pages to explain this in further detail.
The schedule week has officially started! Try to schedule as many of your games as early as possible, as this ensures that you’ll find a suitable date. Remember late matches are not allowed – any games unplayed after the deadline will be nullified.
If you want your game to be casted, contact a casting organisation informing them of the schedule. Give them as many opportunities to cast as possible!
A reminder that all teams without at least 12 players on the team roster (exceptions may apply) by July 7 could be removed from the Cup.

why? that doesn’t make sense. we have to play 5 times so why not once in every week? why do we have to play 2 games (week 1 and week 5) by the week 1 deadline?
confused
huh, we are up against turkey for week 5, but we have to play the match in week 1. we don’t have a week 1 match. why not do it right the first time and put turkey for week 1?
nvm
The number “5” is odd => One team has to sit out every week and the total number of play weeks for a division with 5 teams would be 5.
Because of the tight schedule, this can not be afforded.
And… That’s why you have a distinctive Week 5 in the schedule above?
Ah, I’m stupid and didn’t look at the dates :( Now it all makes sense!
Seriously, just make it “Week 1 and Week 5”, so that it is all sorted by dates!
