Public Arena Polls and Two Player Bans

Arena Polls

Due to the positive feedback of the newest released Team Fortress 2 Mode „Arena” we decided to give it a try and will arrange an ETF2L Arena Cup soon.

As there are no clear rules yet (besides disabling the Engineer) we would like to catch up the community’s opinion. Take your right to vote below. All Polls will close coming Sunday, 23:59 CET.

Player Bans

After we had a detailed look on Demos of Moonroach (ex-member of GoT1) and Trojan (ex-member of CiC) we have enough evidence to prove they used illegal cheats during clan matches. We decided for a 1 year ban on both and also a punishment of Trojan’s former team CiC, who will lose 2 Map Wins of their first two played Season 3 matches.

  • Moonroach [Steam ID: 0:0:18906082] – Issue: Using a Triggerbot – Punishment: 1 year ban
  • Trojan [Steam ID: 0:0:19138683] – Issue: Using wallhack + aimbot – Punishment: 1 year ban
  • Cable Internet Clan – Issue: Using a cheater in ETF2L matches – Punishment: One map gets defaulted against them each match he used him

On a side note I would like to mention CiC reacted very fair and sportsmanlike on this issue. Also see their Forum Statement [Link] about it.

    There’s a mistake in week 1 match between CiC and team.RN. Well got defaulted for us, however it says Gravel Pit ended 7-0. Of course that’s nonsense, could an admin pls change the result into CiC 2-0 team.RN? thx

    Seconded, why prohibit engineer? The engineer brings a very interesting flavour into arena games as the dispenser can be very valuable in the long run, you can use the sentry in an offensive manner by deploying it somewhere near the middle cap and then moving away from it and using your shotgun/pistol –> the enemy team will have to choose between shooting the deploying sentry which will be trouble soon or shooting the other players that are trying to frag them. The engineer isn’t too powerful either since it’s easily countered by a rushing scout or a soldier, and soldiers and demos can deal even with a fully deployed fairly easily.

    Imo allow engineer, it’s proven to be great fun, in right combination and tactic an asset to the team, but not too powerful on the #mpuktf2.arena games. 3on3, class limit 1, no medics. Great fun but too few players = games hardly ever :(

    Yea i dont get the it why is “disabling engineer” already a rule? For what purpose? If an engi tries to camp somewhere you can just cap the point and if he tries to supress that he gets killed. You dont even need to kill the sentry to win a round

    if no medic, than the pyro get on scene again, fire on by flare gun is quite massive and instant hp decrease feature :D
    more sandwiches by heavyweaponguys :) …

    so far when we play the arena for fun, usually 4 with medic suits combat better than 3v3 without medic, which is instantly fast :D just the aim and speed counts.

    oki let’s wait for the resulst let’s spread the word about, need more overall voters.

    3v3 seems to be a bit too few. A random lucky shot/pipe can then easily decide which team is going to win. With 4 people in each team there is more backup and it will make the matches last a little longer.

    I would like demo limit 1, heavy limit 1 and medic limit 1, but otherwise I think cl2 is ok.

    I’d hoped that arena gaming would open up for some more variations in the game. If, as the poll sugests right now, there would be 4on4, cl1 and no medics/engies all we would see is teams with 1 soldier, 1 demo, 1 heavy and 1 scout (or maybe pyro instead of scout).

    Joliet Jake, CrZ.isf, are you guys using mat_queue_mode 2? can cause ingame crashes a lot if on public. Usually ok inside the 6v6 bracket downwards. Default is mat_queue_mode -1. Can cause crashes if changed, because valve still haven’t sorted out their problem with multi-core processors being enabled ;p

    engineer -> camping, healing all the time, sentry with auto aim against enemy without ubber

    I’m very happy with classlimit 1 and mediclimit 0 but why 4on4?
    I’m also in a 3-member squad because it’s quite common.
    And we played a lot together but now we have to introduce a 4th player that will take time.

    3on3 is just about right for arena matches..

    and eng should be allowed, its not realy so usefull in arena, but can be nice adon to tactics to take it every few rounds just to surprise the enemy..
