Putting cfgs in /cfg folder makes them work, putting cfgs in custom/cfg folder makes them not work.

What?

you want custom/randomfoldername/cfg not /custom/cfg

Thanks, didn’t think that /randomfoldername/ would matter. Seeing as putting huds in /custom/hud folder worked but that’s probably because huds use another subfolder (resource/scripts)

I wanted to create vpk files for my custom stuff (faster load times), but I don’t have vpk tool? It’s supposed to in the /bin folder but it’s not there for me.

Edit: It’s in /team fortress 2/bin and not in /team fortress 2/tf/bin

lol thanks, editted my post just before you posted it. :)

Seems to work quite nicely with huds, but not with cfgs

I can’t install my hud. I put it in the correct folders and it doesn’t show up in game.

First I tried making a separate folder for the custom hud under custom folder e.g.
steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/mystuff/broeselhud.

However, I got the custom hud to work when I removed the broeselhud folder and moved the files to their own subfolders e. g.
steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/mystuff/resource
and steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom/mystuff/scripts

Now it works perfectly.

Thank you so much! It works.

Also does anyone know how to make it run on Linux? I have a friend who got it but his game crashes after he accepts the motd and all that.

thanks ani useful as always ;)

For some reason, your custom fonts won’t work if they’re packed into a vpk so if your hud uses them you need to just put them separately in tf/custom/[randomfoldername]/resource
