Tomorrow, on Thursday the 7th, the 7th Experimental Ordnance Cup will go live. This One Night Cup will feature the two most unfamiliar familiar maps in TF2, badlands and granary mirrored. If you have not seen or downloaded the maps yet, be sure to head over to this site and check them out.

Brackets will be announced today 23:15 CEST in #etf2l!

High Bracket: Click here
Mid Bracket: Click here
Low Bracket: Click here

Round 1: 20:00 CET (cp_sdnaldab)
Quarter Final: 20:45 CET (cp_yranarg)
Semi Final: 21:30 CET (cp_sdnaldab)
Final: 22:15 CET (cp_yranarg)

The Details:

Please contact your opponents in #etf2l on IRC, so ensure at least one of your team is in there at all times. If you have any problems contacting your opponents, please talk to an Admin. There will be servers with SourceTVs (hosted by Multiplay) available for you to play on. Request them by talking to an admin.

  • All teams must have at least 1 player ready on #etf2l (QuakeNet) to find their opponent and schedule the match.
  • If your match starts more than 10 minutes late, please reduce the map time to 15-25 minutes, depending on how long you have left before the next round starts. Bear in mind that if the map finishes in a draw, there will be a golden cap period to follow.
  • If your match finishes in a draw, you must play a golden cap round to decide the winner. Please reset the config and play a 5 minute golden cap round. The first team to cap in this round, wins. If neither team caps within 5 minutes, the team that holds CP3 at the end of the 5 minute period wins.
  • The following unlocks are allowed: Crossbow, Kritzkrieg, Quick-Fix, Ubersaw and Equalizer
  • For most other issues the regular ETF2L Season 9 rules apply.
  • Teams may use 2 mercs by default, multiple mercs are allowed if the opponent agrees.
  • To disable the whitelist you just do rcon mp_tournament_whitelist “none” and then rcon mp_tournament_restart.

Has the creator of these maps been contacted that his maps are featured in a cup? :D

I’d want to know if my maps would be played for an entire night.

Yea… if only the download link was actually working, instead it makes you wait 1 minute, and then another minute.. and after that minute is gone.. it restarts again, saying you need to wait: random amount of seconds.. GG download link..

    Well played sir.. Well played.

    Hey all again..

Glad the cup went well.. congratulations to the winners and all that played!

@lolage – I’m sincerely glad you hated the maps.. they were made as much for you as for those that love them.

@The Pledge – I found out early when my site started getting more hits than usual. Asking if I’d been contacted was a nice thought though all the same, thanks. They’re Valve’s maps though, I simply modded them to mess with peoples heads. I’m just happy to see them getting some attention.

@FluffY ZeuZ – The maps are hosted on 2ftmaps.net, if anyone still wants them they could also find them for download there. Though the ETF2L community has upped the DL count significantly this last week, I just tested also and the link seems to work fine.

I was never much of a competitive player, spent most of my time in TF2 either raping pubs or mapping. I’ve recently stopped playing. I guess I reached my ‘clutter’ limit. I had originally planned to do a Mirrored Maps Series 3, and still might. Any suggestions on what maps you might like to play mirrored? They’d have to be Valve made maps though.

Anyways, I’d be interested to hear from anyone who played and what they thought of the maps. Did they make you think? laugh? or just piss you off and mess up your rollouts?

rollouts were fine actually cause you had time to think about it in advance. the problem starts when you´re fighting / dodging and your brain sets back into the normal badlands / granary tactics, for example to fall back to a medpack or a choke point – when you start doing stuff that has become automated in your brain without thinking, you start failing. happened to me on “yranarg” middle for example: taking damage, walking backwards to the left corner behind me cause my brain assumes there is my medpack – which it isn´t. that´s when the mindfuck, the mess and sooner or later the rage starts…
was a nice experiment though, I had fun allthough we completely failed our 2nd round match… and I´m pretty sure that this kind of shit developes new neurons in everyones brain, as well as it destroys them again the very next minute cause you´re hitting your head on the desk =)
