It’s probably because what you’re describing is not being affected by your network settings, but some graphic related cvar. As you said, it “looks like” it is taking off earlier.

It might also be dx8 related.

Probably unrelated: trying to get my work lappy (dell Latitude D630, 2g ram) to run TF2, using maxframes, full, 640×480. Gets 30-40 fps in spawn, as soon as I fire a weapon TF2 crashes. Anyone have this? Is it physics or sound related, or am I just asking too much of the dell?

It’s likely that it simply can’t cope with it, or some effect that TF2 wants it can’t produce.

Try setting all commands in the threading section to 0 and then trying.

I get that too, my fps now shoot up too 100 and then go down to like 10 :S

fps drops sometimes to 55 on my laptop.
with more it was hanging around 80 i thought

but it plays a little bit better then normal :)

The sudden surge of people saying this is a bit concerning, I wonder if the change I made last night to r_occlusion was detrimental…

For anyone having problems with jumping FPS: if you guys change r_occlusion to 1 in the autoexec, does it fix it?

what i meant to say was that the rocket has less delay, its hard to get used to and if i can have normal quality with no delay i prefer playing with it instead of low quality, can you do something about it? :o

Without seeing the issue I don’t know what you’re talking about (I don’t play soldier). If you demonstrate it to me in the form of a video or something I might be able to fix it.
