Season 30 by STN-Trading & scrap.tf: Map Update & Playoff Structure Preview

Date July 1, 2018

Map Update

To start off Week 6 soon, we have updated one of our maps from the last weeks of the main season to a more up to date variant; the map in question is cp_prolands_b5. This map update is going to come in use as of now for both the last weeks of the main season and the playoffs at the end of the season.

Playoff Structure Preview

With the changes in the size of Division and Tier groups, we have gotten questions about how the playoffs will be played out, to which we will respond in the following part of this newspost.

Top Tiers

Premiership Playoffs will feature the Top 4 teams of the group in a Double Elimination setting, with the 1st seed team playing against 4th seed alongside the 2nd seeded team playing against 3rd seed. The winner of the Upper Bracket finals will receive a significant map pick advantage for the Best-of 5 Grand Finals instead of the full map win advantage known from previous seasons.

Division 1 and 2 will both have a similar Single Elimination Playoff structure, with Top 3 teams of both groups getting into the playoffs. The 1st seeded teams receive a bye round from the Quarter Finals and thus getting an instant spot in Semi-Finals. For these playoffs the 1st and 3rd seeded teams will be chosen from the same group, while the 2nd seeded team will be from the other group of the same division.

The aforementioned Playoffs will only include Placement Medals distributed to teams, meaning that a team that gets knocked out in Quarter Finals will receive only a Participation Medal for the season.

Main Tiers

Mid, Low and Open tiers will have Top 8 teams of each Tier playing in a single elimination setting with all teams starting out from Quarter Finals onward.

These Playoffs will include both Playoff Medals and Placement Medals distributed to teams, depending on the team’s placement.

Highlander Season 16 Preseason Cup

Date June 26, 2018

etf2l-logo-banner_small

With the dust settled on Season 15, let’s start the preparation for Season 16! This cup will focus around testing unlocks for the upcoming season to see whether these weapons should be allowed or not.

>>>Signup now!<<<

Whitelist changes

All the following unlocks will be banned during this cup. Feedback around the whitelist will be taken into consideration when making the whitelist for highlander season 16, this is by no means the whitelist for said season. The new whitelist can be found here.

Mad Milk: We feel mad milk is often too decisive in teamfights, the most prominent use on koth maps can shift the entire balance of a team fight.

Scorch shot: The flare knocks back enemies and can hit multiple people at a time as the flare explodes when it hits the ground. Contrary to the detonator the scorch shot flare takes little effort to effectively use, furthermore it mini-crits targets that are already on fire. This makes the scorch shot nearly a straight upgrade of the flare gun and detonator.

Iron bomber: Due to the pipe having little roll and far more predictable bounces missing a pipe is punished less. Moreover it has a greater projectile speed when compared to the stock pipes, making it a direct upgrade to the default grenade launcher.

Machina: Much like the iron bomber this weapon is a straight upgrade of its stock variant. The extra damage and player penetration are good upsides while virtually no downsides are present.

Map pool and timings

Each tier is divided into round robin groups of four teams meaning there could be multiple groups for each tier, teams that sign up sooner will be prioritized in getting a spot in the cup, so do not wait until the last minute to sign up! Keep in mind that there will not be any elimination rounds for this cup.

  • Signups close: July 7th at 21:00 CEST
  • Group stage round 1: July 8th 19:00 CEST- pl_upward
  • Group stage round 2: July 8th 20:00 CEST- koth_product_rc9
  • Group stage round 3: July 8th 21:00 CEST- cp_gullwash_final1

Upward will be played as a bo1 while product and gullywash will be played following the standard league rules.

Season 30 by STN-Trading & scrap.tf Week 5: Ascent.EU vs. the bin

Date June 26, 2018

Banner by soda

It is week 5 of ETF2L already, and Ascent.EU is taking on the bin as the season’s ending is slowly but surely getting closer. The french squad will be looking for any points if they want to stay clear of the relegation zone, whereas the bin could nick the second place from SVIFT.

Ascent.EU have not had a good experience with garbage collectors, as they lost both maps last week to the bin BLACK and while Cardinal was close, the Frenchies seemed outclassed on Product. The bin on the other hand did not play last week, getting a default win over Velocity eSports, and while the 6 points are always welcome, it also means that the trashy team did not have a lot of practice. Both maps are looking good for Muuki and his epic friends, with the recent pickup of krafty solving the scout situation, but Ascent.EU will be coming in with fresher memories of Product, and Snakewater is such a staple map that it could go either way as well.

Will Ascent.EU guillotine the self-proclaimed Kings of the Hill ? Or will the bin swallow their enemies whole ? Tune in tonight to find out !

Season 30 by STN-Trading & scrap.tf Week 4: Ascent.EU vs. the bin BLACK & Ora Elektro vs. The Bus Crew

Date June 21, 2018

Ascent.EU vs. the bin BLACK

It is week 4, the week of unorthodox maps Cardinal and Product, and this can go either Ascent.EU or the bin BLACK, and both are sitting mid table with 6 points each.

Half of Ascent.EU points are coming from their last-week victory over Velocity eSports EU on Cardinal, and seeing as the bin BLACK failed to pick up any points on that map, the frenchies will surely have their hopes up it. Ombrack’s organization has been proved to be a decisive factor on this new and unknown map, and good focus calls could make up for a potential lack of DM on Product.

The bin BLACK are entering this fixture after losing both maps in a very close fashion to Ora Elektro, and will be hungry for points, with their roster getting used to the shakeup. It’s now been two weeks since iatgink and groove swapped their roles of roamer and pocket scout, and while the Welshman has some top high experience on roamer, many were expecting groove to end up dead as disco. The German proved them wrong however, and has been delivering some quite funky plays in the last two weeks.

It will also be the showdown between two DM demos on the DM map, tune in to tftv to watch some explosive action !

Season 30 by STN-Trading & scrap.tf Week 4: Se7en vs. SVIFT

Date June 20, 2018

Banner by soda

Here we go folks, the battle between the current top teams of ETF2L’s Season 30 Premiership. Both Se7en and SVIFT are sitting pretty on top of the table with 6 wins each to their name as well as the 18 points as a result of it. Previous records suggests that Se7en might get the advantage over SVIFT, but probably it’s too early in the season. In one way or the other, after this match, we will see a clear leader to the table. Will Se7en dominate their way to a victory, or will SVIFT deal with the veterans of EU in a swift manner? Join the TFTV Triple E crew of Eepily, Eemes, and (g)Emm as they document this encounter between these two teams.
