And so it happens that after Monday, a horrible sign of the beginning of the week (and what a beginning it was, with cookye scoring whooping 40 frags against Decerto on Snakewater), comes Tuesday – one step closer to the weekend. It’s rather unusual to see almost every day of the week packed with blasts and explosions – and yet, it’s happening as the best amongst representatives of our beloved continent duke it out for fame and glory (and points). Whether or not the revised ruleset had an impact on the situation, we should cheer up, as tonight, the S12’s champions, Epsilon eSports, lead by the ever so charismatic KnOxXx, despite their crew undergoing some serious changes before the season, will continue their undefeated journey towards defending the title, as they stumble upon Quarantine, who will take this chance to show everyone they are a force to be reckoned with. Highlander Season 3 Signups

Season 3 signups are now open! You can now sign up your team on the competitions page.

Do not forget to choose your desired division when signing up. If you created a new team or feel you can jump a division, feel free to apply for the desired division anyway. To prove you are capable of the division you applied for, we require you to submit screenshots of recent practice wars or tournaments where you scored decent results against teams that play on the level you aim for. There is no magical number of screenshots you have to submit, just submit what you have.

Please note that the success of your request mainly depends on the free slots in the division you aim for. Established teams will be favoured over new teams, or teams that request to jump a division. The screenshots have to be uploaded to online image storage (for example you can use imgur or Dropbox), zipped archives with tons of pictures attached to an email will be ignored. Please send your application to [email protected].

The division application has to include the following information in order to be considered. Incomplete applications will be ignored!

• Team name
• Team link on ETF2L.org
• Division you apply for
• Link to the online photo album
• Reasons why your team deserves to be placed in the division you applied for (optional)

Signups close on October 24 23:59 CEST. Any team that signs up later will be placed on the waiting list and has a high chance of replacing dropped teams during the first two play weeks.

Division Structure Changes

Season 3 onwards will see an introduction of Premiership as the highest division in Highlander, to match the division structure of ETF2L’s 6v6 league.

Teams that would qualify for Division 1 under the current structure will be moved to the new highest division, and top teams from lower divisions will be promoted accordingly. If you placed in the top 3 of your group in Season 2, you may apply directly for a higher division.

To further align with the 6v6 division structure, we will also hold playoffs in the Premiership Division. The top 3 teams at the end of the regular season are invited to the playoffs which will use the same system as the 6v6 playoffs, meaning in the first week the third plays the second and the winner of that match plays the first in the grand final. Every playoff spot has a guaranteed money prize.

Prizes

The anonymous donor struck again and will once more provide a large pile of money for the best Highlander teams. The total amount of €2,500 from Mr. X is bulked up to €2,565 by ourselves and leads to the following distribution:

• Premiership winner: €1,035
• Premiership second: €630
• Premiership 3rd: €405

If you paid attention, you may have noticed that this only banks up to €2,070. The rest of the money in the prize purse is used for an affiliated secondary playoff that is played as single elimination playoff. All teams in the Premier Division that did not make it to a playoff spot and the top 4 Division 1 teams are invited to participate. More details on this will follow at a later date.

The distribution of the remaining €495 for the secondary playoffs is as follows:

• Winner: €360
• Second: €135

This way, teams that are not ready for the absolute top in Europe still have something to fight for! The secondary playoffs will most likely be a one-time thing for Season 3 only.

Everyone who is not in money range can still win something: Shiny medals for your Team Fortress 2 characters that will be delivered as soon as they are done. On this note: We have not forgotten about the medals for our other Highlander seasons, Ultiduo tournaments or 6v6 seasons and are still working on getting them into the game. More information will be provided when it is time.

Season 13 powered by Tt eSPORTS: BFF vs Team Decerto – Premiership Match

As it usually is with Mondays, our minds are very consistent with denying the importance of focusing on the future rather than the weekend just gone. Fear not though – tonight we’ll have a chance to put those grim perspectives aside for a little while longer as two of the strongest teams in Europe shall perform some fisticuffs in a rather loud, yet still virtual manner. An impressive mix of TF2 veterans, BFF, who might or might not be best friends forever, will take on Team Decerto, being quite experienced themselves, who despite their rather unsuccessful start in Premiership work hard and move forward to prove their worth. With their long lasting commitment to the game, tonight’s match will be one of the many-to-come occasions to show that, contrary to a popular belief, Europeans still do care. Who shall remain victorious this time? Find out in just a few.

Wireplay TF2 League Season 11 Signups

The Wireplay League has opened the signups for their 11th 6v6 league. The season will be run after ETF2L Season 13 to avoid collisions and make it possible to play even for teams who prefer not to play more than one match per week. In the coming weeks, the Wireplay site will undergo some improvements, check out what already has been done and sign up your team! The full schedule is as follows:

Highlander Showmatch VoDs

Yesterday’s cast of the ETF2L Highlander showmatch is now available to watch on the VanillaTV YouTube channel. If you prefer to chat with other viewers and are a night owl, you can tune in to the first ever VanillaTV restream tonight at 7PM CST and 11PM CST which converts into 03:00 CEST and 07:00 CEST.

As we build up to ETF2L’s 3rd season of Highlander, we like to do things fun to get the hype going so we’ve put together a little showmatch in the spirit of the NA v EU summer LAN showdown. Tonight on VanillaTV we have two of the world’s best going face to face for the sake of their own reputation. On the East side of the Atlantic, we have the the self-crowned “best” Highlander team in existence, SNSD who are looking to remain undefeated in 9v9 officials for another season in ETF2L and have willingly put their egos on the line to face what is probably their biggest test yet –  The Syndicate. These yanks are no ordinary team, they are a team of stacked superstars tipped by many to be equally as dominant in UGC Platinum as their roster boasts some of the best talent in the 9v9 format.

Tune in to VanillaTV at 21.15 CET or 15.15 EST if you’re American to see this unqiue spectacle hosted on a New York server so that pings can be as fair as possibly (both teams look to average 90-100 ping per player). Just to keep the Euro-American banter strong we have the ever patriotic  Salamancer  on the mic along with the Irish master of repartee, caster of the season Admirable along with highlander guru  Hildreth and the ever reliable and unsung hero of the community Comedian on the stream. The maps will be Highlander favourite Badwater, old classic Granary and Viaduct_Pro as a potential decider.

It’s time for another season of Highlander! We have a lot of changes in store for Season 3 to be announced in upcoming newsposts – today we’ll start off with the weapon banlist and provisional map schedule for the season.

Season 3 Unlocks

ETF2L Season 3 will now use the same banlist for unlocks as UGC Season 8, in order to improve experience for players involved in both leagues. The only difference between the two whitelists is the High-Five taunt – it remains banned in ETF2L, as it allows players to peek through walls on certain maps without the downsides associated with regular taunts.
