ps. Every etf2l team should also join esl, esl being one of the biggest leagues in the world. We sure could’ve more support from esl if there would be 400teams playing tf2 there.

After that TF2 would be the biggest league in ESL(?). $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I think the arguments here (having only scanned through about 2 pages of this post) are that:

1) Anti cheat software is resonably ineffective and can lead to a false security.
2) Anti cheat clients need to be constantly updated and so creating your own anti cheat isn’t really feasible.
3) A 3rd party anti cheat is quite expensive (to pay for the services to have it updated).

To address problem #1, I think some anti cheat is better than none. While the cheaters are always ahead of the anticheat software, they only need to fall behind one time to be caught. Anti cheats do catch some cheaters. It doesn’t mean your league is cheatproof, but if anything, it’s a very large deterent not to cheat. You never know if the anticheat program is going to catch you right off the bat, unless you test it first. Testing it could result in you being banned.

To address the second problem… You just don’t make your own.

As for the cost of implementing a 3rd party solution. There are like, 350 teams in ETF2L’s 6v6 league last season. That’s a minimum of around 2100 players. Not including the extra highlander players, people who currently aren’t in a team, inactive teams, ladder teams etc..

I’m sure even 1% of those players could, and would be willing to donate ike €10 as a one off donation to help ETF2L afford an anti-cheat solution. Even that would be €2100+ Euros. How much does one of these anticheat systems cost??? I would throw a tenner at ETF2L to at least know that some cheaters are being caught. I’ve played in something like 7 or 8 seasons of ETF2L, I think €10 is more than resonable for this service and I’m sure others would agree.

Just find some software, forget about money, and I’m sure the community can come together to make it happen.

That donation would get you an ac client for maybe 2 seasons if you’re lucky.

As I said, VAC has the least amount of flaws compared to the other clients. Privacy issues, performance and price are no problems in that case. The price would be not being able to cheat in other orange box games.

Enough of the excuses! You could easily get enough cash to support an AC client for a year!

Do tell which good AC client we could get for a year.

I will have a look but I’m suprised at how reluctant you guys are to have a look yourself, I’m sure you can get £2000+ to pay for an AC!

Or you could react on a few post made by other people :D

The number arx named is not even enough for 2 seasons. Let alone the fact that you would need to find people willing to pay for annoying privacy invading software.

D2m took a look at having your own AC client written for you (which we’ll have to do since nobody here is capable of writing one). £10000+ at least, along with maintenance and update costs. £2000 isn’t enough to get it for any substantial amount of time.

And then there’s still the following question: Which AC clients are actually worth it? Wire is the only one that’s decent from what I’ve heard. I highly doubt ESL is even willing to share it, and if they do I highly doubt £2000 is enough.
