Highlander Experimental Cup #9: Playoffs & Tiebreaker Scores

Welcome everyone to the conclusion of the Highlander Experimental Cup #9.
We hope you enjoyed the matches, and for the teams that made it through, congratulations.

If you find yourself on the list of these teams you are expected to be available. The match dates has been decided for you, but they are a subject of a change as long as the changes are within the deadline. Due to schedule limitations, the matches must be played on time in order not to postpone the next matches.

Schedule

The schedule for the playoff matches will be the following.

• Quarter-final matches will be played on Sunday 20th February 20:30 CET. This applies to High tier only, other tiers will start from Semi-Finals at this point.
• Semi-Finals will be played on Thursday 24th February 20:30 CET.
• Grand Finals will be played on Sunday 27th 20:30 CET.

Map changes

During the cup we have noticed people experiencing problems on pl_cornwater_b7b and koth_cascade, and because of that we are replacing them during the play-off stage for pl_cornwater_b7c_fix (due to a transparent spot under stairs leading to a house next to a third point and transparent wall on pl_cornwater_b7c) and koth_cascade_v2_b6 (due to client crashes on map change).

Format

Maps will be decided using the following Map Elimination System:

Both teams need to agree on who eliminates first. If the two teams cannot agree, they need to perform a heavy fist fight. The winner of this heavy fist fight can decide if he wants to start of if the other team should.

We have discussed with Premiership and Division 1 teams and agreed to change the playoff format to single elimination from double elimination this season.

Premiership

For Premiership we’re going with 4 teams in the playoffs with single elimination. Previously we have announced that only two teams will advance to the play-offs in Premiership, however due to final results, it is impossible to draw two the best teams in a fair way without playing Tiebreaker matches, thus all teams have been placed in a play-off stage. All matches will be played as BO3.
