Highlander Season 14 Week 2: Feila eSports vs Lucrosa

Date November 22, 2017

Tonight, the veteran Highlander squad Poland Feila finanzieren durch DROPS will go head to head with rising power-team Sweden Lucrosa. Feila goes back a long way, with esport couple UnitedKingdom Hutchy and UnitedKingdom Leila leading the charge each season without failure. Despite a defeat in the first week to the strongest seeded team SDCK, their roster remains promising, with previous premiership winner and sniper of the season England cloudy joining the ranks alongside fresh and promising players such as Germany mezzo and Slovakia Strno who have stepped up considerably in the later seasons and shown the world that they have what it takes to be the very best in the scene.

Likewise, Lucrosa have already proved themselves as a force not to be reckoned with. After taking a Golden Cap Win against European Tourettes Chessclub in the first week, they pose a bigger threat to the premiership tables than perhaps expected initially. Last week we saw the likes of demoman Netherlands Bob Bami and sniper International andrew demolish their competition, and no doubt they will be giving Feila a run for their money tonight.

With both teams possessing potential for a playoff spot this season, the stakes have never been higher! Tonight at 21:15 CET, KritzKast will be covering all the action as these two titans battle it out on Gullywash and Product. Casted by Spain CeeJaey and Germany DCS with Netherlands Wiethoofd behind the scenes, we hope to see you there!

Season 28 UBF: LEGO vs. SVIFT

Date November 22, 2017

The first Grand Finals participant for ETF2L S28 will be chosen tonight with this UB Final between 1st seed European SVIFT and 2nd seed Denmark LEGO!
These teams are about as close as it gets, with only one point (not counting penalities) separating them on the ETF2L table. When they met in the regular season, the match ended in a draw, with European SVIFT taking Snakewater 5-2 before losing Sunshine 4-3, despite having UnitedKingdom Domo mercing for Denmark LEGO. This would be the first time these two teams met with their full rosters, but (un)fortunately? we might see somewhere around seven mercs… or was it European Se7en mercs? Whatever the case, this will be yet another exciting playoffs match, so be sure to tune in!
Casters will be England TurboTabs and France Ombrack, with International Nicell on production!

Season 28 LBR1: Ascent.EU vs. Lowpander :-3

Date November 20, 2017

The ETF2L S28 Premiership Playoffs continue with this do-or-die match between 3rd seed European Politically correct pander and 4th seed France top5rocket!
Both teams played very close matches against their opponents, though you might not believe the LEGO-Lowpander match was close if you only look at the 7-2 ETF2L point scoreline. Despite having Crayon and papi mercing for them, Lowpander were able to put up a very good showing against LEGO+ Drackk, taking a golden cap on Reckoner before losing Gullywash and Prolands by 1 round each, 5-4 and 2-1 respectively. Ascent.EU (+KRAFTYDAVE in for Néo) narrowly lost to 1st seed SVIFT 5-4, winning Gullywash 2-0 before narrowly losing Reckoner in a golden cap and falling on Process in an exciting 5-3 game.

When these two teams met in Week 2 of the regular season, the game was once again closer than the 5-1 scoreline would suggest, with Lowpander winning Prolands in a golden cap and taking Gullywash 4-2. Lowpander might want to take that result into account as they pick maps. However, with both teams fielding at least one merc/replacement for this game, and factoring in the experience both teams gained over the course of the season and the close matches they just had, this could be anybody’s game. Best of luck to both teams!

Casters will be alba and WARHURYEAH, with degu on production!

Highlander Season 14 Week 1: Lucrosa vs Tourettes Chessclub

Date November 19, 2017

Long standing Highlander powerhouse European Tourettes Chessclub return with a vengeance after taking a season break. Led by France cobz The veteran team will be facing their first week back against Sweden Lucrosa, Season 13 High winners.

Lucrosa have altered their roster since last season, after a very successful season in the High division. Most notably, the flank has undergone major changes, with rising Irish superstar Ireland Kosuke taking the role of Soldier, while Finland ekkelund makes a comeback to the Highlander after a five season break. But that’s not all; old timer (lol) Poland Graba will be making a reappearance as medic, and will hopefully bring some important calls and strategy to the team. Former Ambassador extraordinaire, Netherlands Nightmare will continue playing for Lucrosa, perhaps opting for a change of playstyle after the ‘spy-crippling’ Pyro update. With both young, rising players and veterans compiling the Lucrosa roster, it’s anyone’s guess how their debut season in prem will pan out.

Tourettes Chessclub have, unsurprisingly, undergone major roster changes of their own. American heavyweight Kresnik has joined in on some European action and will be fighting alongside the up and coming demoman England Eemes, who proved himself aptly during the recent Highlander Nations Cup as well as a formidable player at the Insomnia61 LAN in August. Some familiar names have made their appearance this season with Chessclub as well. Sweden Ascendary will be playing Pyro, Sweden Khazul on spy and Scotland Fragm3nt3d on medic. These players represent the origins of Chessclub and many of their prior successes in the gamemode are credited to them.

With an amalgamation of old and new players filling both rosters, there is great potential for both teams. Will Chessclub be able to play their pieces correctly and kick their return season off with a bang? Or will Sweden Cronk be able to lead his team to victory in their most important match to date. Tune in at KritzKast with England chando and England Buck824 with the glorious Netherlands Wiethoofd on production at 21:00 CET to find out!

Happy Birthday ETF2L!

Date November 17, 2017

Last month, TF2 celebrated its landmark tenth birthday.
Valve marked the occasion with the release of a major update: new maps were added to the Casual rotation, the matchmaking system was overhauled, and Pyro was given a jet pack (and Spy mains a Rainy Day Case of the blues).

However, there’s been another significant birthday in the community – our own!

This week, it’s been ten years to the day since ETF2L first began.

During that time, we’ve overseen twenty-eight seasons of sixes, thirteen of Highlander, eleven Nation Cups and myriad tournaments more. We’ve seen thousands of players compete, frag and frenetically call for Medic, across over twenty-five thousand teams. Join us as we look back at ETF2L’s competitive history, from ctf_2fort and cp_well to the competitive game we play today.
