And reinstalling will fix that how?
See page 1 of this thread where OP states to be running win7.
I admit I’m not 100% sure reinstalling will fix it, but I know that problems with drivers/windows should affect the whole computer performance and not only one game, so apparently this game got something wrong, I’d go for reinstalling, to OP: Have you set multicore rendering on or off? If off set it On.
I run Windows 7 64bit and got a Phenom II x4 @3.6GHz, the game never dips below 100fps (on 6v6 it never dips to 120fps), and I have a HD4830 @740/1020 which is 2 generations old.

I just noticed that when I play TF2, my first card is at 40-100% load depends on the situation, and the second card is taking a nap at 40 degrees and 0% load.
In crysis 2 on the other hand, they are both at around 80-100% load.

That’s because the game is so CPU dependent and doesn’t require a strong GPU to max it out, try seeing your CPU usage instead.
First core at around 80%, and the others 30-50%.
This must be some type of SW issue since im running pretty much the same spec’s as you are and my FPS never dips below 240 where i have locked it. I get around 800+ FPS in respawns and 400+ in middle fights if I keep it unlocked. I am using chris dx9 config my self and without any gibs/bits/pieces and such.
specs:
i7 920 2.66ghz @ 4.10ghz
12gb ram
gtx295 (2 cores)
Hmmm, what’s SW?
I seriously don’t understand what the fuck is going on and it starts to piss me off.
SW= Software. Try reinstalling the whole game from steam (if you havent done that yet) and the last of the easy options is to reinstall the Operating system (windows7). If those will not help, then I have no idea what so ever what is going on.
software
ninja’d :(

I am re-installing now.
I have 2 hard-disks. One formatted and installed windows 7 on, and the other one had already steam from my old win7 installation.
So maybe I should just erase everything related to steam and re-install?
Yes, that is the easiest option there is. Reinstall Windows on the HDD1 and download + install latest drivers. (remember to keep latest network drivers on usb stick or something)
Do not copy anything from old steam files, just download and install steam + games on it right after antivirus program (i suggest avast).
test.
profit.

These are my specs.
EVGA GTX460 FTW Edition
i7-860
6 GB DDR3 RAM
but ive got 2 slow HDD.
default settings (almost everything @ high (no filters) ) FPS of 160 AVG.
middle fight 100 FPS and 40FPS @ PL_thundermountain STAGE 2 spawndoors of blu.
Slow HDD can make it very slow i guese.
My computer isnt bad at all, its just a pitty that TF2 is the only game who has BIG fps drops.
Right I’m not even joking here. Disable Crossfire, physically take out one of your graphics cards from your PC, and see how well it runs.
Also I should rephrase what I meant. Literally for the cost of me going to LAN and buying my current graphics card (which is 3 years old, and I bought it mint condition second hand 2 and a half years ago), I have a graphics set up that performs almost as well in practice if your set up was working properly.
(The reason I said remove the card btw is that TF2 doesn’t actually support crossfire, so it’s probably doing more harm than good).
Also my specs:
i5 750 (2.66GHz, OC’d to 3)
8GB DDR3
ATI Radeon 4850
(5 HDD’s totalling 2TB+ but that won’t affect my FPS)

well, tf2 is rather old, it doesnt benefit from crossfire, i have CF hd5870 and the difference is 0fps between 1 and 2 cards.
I see.
Well I will try removing one card and trying again.
I also re-installed TF2 and it did not help.
But what did help to the FPS in Crysis 2 was reverting the drivers back to 11.2 instead of 11.4, but yet no effect on TF2.
Getting around 70 to 130 fps in crysis in times. never going below 70.

crysis isnt running on source engine, dunno why u keep comparing tf2 to it… its like comparing truck with a covertable
