Help with basic frag movie making.

Yeah didn’t work, I have standard HUD still coming up and no improved graphics. Do I need to do anythins special.

Then you’re doing it wrong.

Make sure you save the config as autoexec.cfg in /tf/cfg/.

Make sure you install the HUD into /tf/resource/ and /tf/scripts/.

Right next problem, when using the pldx recording tool all my demo’s crash at 25 mins in and hl2 stops working, anoyne have any idea how to mix this?

You have the moments where you want to hit something… Well I just had one, I moved demos into the old tf2, then i messed up and decied to start again, so I deleted this old tf2 and reextracted the files, as you have guessed I deleted these old demo’s >_<.

Chris I sent this files to Pika, he was meant to send them to you: if you still ahve them would love them back, they were called DH, Airshot1 and GG.

I’m in a sort of similar boat here. I now have a working ‘pre-mac’ version of TF2 which plays my demos. I’m now ready to record but when I try to exec the pldx.cfg I get about 5 million lines of ‘Cbuf_Addtext: buffer overflow’

Chris your maxquality config execs fine but I want the default crosshairs (like how the pldx tool lets you chose) and when playing back the demo and trying ‘cl_crosshair 0’ or ‘cl_crosshair_file crosshair 0’ I just get a pink and black box where my crosshair should be until (in the demo) I swap weapons, and then it just goes back to the original (green dot) crosshair which I had when recording the demo.

Hope that makes sense.
Some help would be greatly appreciated. I’m idling in #pldx or if someone could add me that would be great.

I’m interested in a solution for this as well, if it exists (i had assumed you can’t change it as it’s just how it comes with the demo, if that makes sense).

Well the normal pldx tool (for current versions of tf2) seems to do it fine?

Oh does it? Thought it didn’t, but then I don’t really use it often (and won’t until they make a version that does actually make backups of your config rather than pretending it does :<)

SKYRIDE TO THE RESCUE

Ok Adam has fixed it, but I thought I would post it here for anyone else that wants to know.

Firstly download Chris’ Maxquality config: http://fakkelbrigade.eu/chris/configs/

Then add, the following lines to the end:

sm_smooth 1
sm_smoothtime 1
hud_saytext_time 0

Put the whole config as your “autoexec.cfg”.

Next create a new text file and paste the following into it:

r_drawviewmodel 1
alias "r_drawviewmodel" "empty"

cl_crosshair_file ""
alias "cl_crosshair_file" "empty"

viewmodel_fov 70
alias "viewmodel_fov" "empty"

Change the fov to whatever you want. Save that file as “crosshair.cfg” and save it into your cfg folder.
Load up tf2, start playing your demo. When the demo starts playing, open your console and type ‘exec crosshair’ and all your crosshairs should be set to default throughout the demo.

Before I start, thanks for the above post, that is a huge help.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to do a 360 degress shot of a player in thrid person mode uniformly, although you can tap it round you get a very uneven turn. Is there a script of something else I could use?

I got a small problem. Since the engineer update is coming out on Thrusday and will almost certainly fuck every demo, therefore I got to do all my recording in two nights: this is going to kill me. So because of this I need some quick help.

I need to know how to smoothly rotate around a model in thrid person. If I run into any other problems, I will panic and start crying, then I will come here.
