It may not be “the” solution but it definitely wouldn’t hurt the scene for pu2 to have an admin team who actually played pickups. Or maybe where the same obviously eligible players didn’t need to be re-invited by this non-existent admin team every other day. Maybe.

Make another pickup channel that’s moderated by said admins?

It’s just very difficult for someone in a lower(<2) division to get anywhere considering most people can't be assed putting in the effort, and they have to go through team after team of people that couldn't give two shits before they finally get a chance in a team that does give a shit and does want to improve.
Oh fuck off with this shit man. You’re the only one complaining about nobody being assed to put in effort in this whole thread. It’s this discussion all over again. If you don’t like a team’s players then don’t join it full stop. You’re acting like you’re the only one who cares and wants to get good. The people who actually wanna do that aren’t complaining in this thread, they’re out there doing it right now. Wanna know why you’re not with them? This is why.

Why are you talking to me? I’m not even talking about myself can’t you see I’m in a div 4 team with some friends? Jesus Ghostface stop trying to actually talk to people you’re useless and have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you even fucking play TF2 anymore?
If you’re not talking about yourself then why talk for someone else mate? You a lawyer of some sort? I’m pretty sure that if anyone has a problem with something they can just voice it themselves.

Give up. Fuck.

1) Form a team with PEOPLE YOU LIKE AND ENJOY TALKING TO.
2) Play some TF2
3) Lose a lot. DONT GO EMO.
4) Get better
5) Lose Less
6) Repeat from step 2
7) ???????
8) ProfitIt’s not a case of the better players not teaching lower players, watch your demos, learn for yourself.
QFT. After half a season in a failing div4 team in the AFS, I started twitch (uV, vye). We couldn’t really get “experienced” people since most of them didn’t look for a freshly started team, but we managed to get ourselves placed in div3, where we lost everything. We kept going tho, and the team ended up low-mid div1. It’s just a matter of sticking together and having a team leader that at least remotely knows what he’s doing.

I think a better solution would be to introduce a pug.na style pickup.
The advantages are:
– Captains are already decided, so there will be a main caller (and there could be consequences for not complying etc). This gives us sóme degree of guarantee that the game will have some sense of coordination and not look like a late night drunken doublemix.
– Captains will pick 1 at a time so the skill will probably hopefully be evenly divided between teams
– It’s a centralised IRC channel so you don’t need to “know” people like in a doublemix, and we have tools to take consequences against people who abuse the pickup.

Been doing exactly this for however many days it says on my profile and counting. Still bad, still loving it :D
I made a team and got good by myself.
Y’all just lazy.

you need elitist c**t’s to get their head out of their ass

Bringing ppl in for pug2 is not the solution at all, pug2 is a luxury meant for those who like to play a game of tf2 without retardness (to a certain degree).
???

Just make Anttttyy & Kaidus admins on pug2, the admins there aren’t simply active enough to invite new people in there.
but not all new people invited are good

Give them a permanent and kick them if they are bad, temps mean they have to spam two inactive admins and one semi inactive one that is also quite busy.

100% agree. Tbh, Byte is one of the most elitist players in the scene. He masks it well, but his attitude towards pickups is a dead give away. I know I’ll get flamed for this, but I don’t care.
Besides, I don’t get it. Lots of players that are div1 or prem now learned the ropes in the old pug2 channel. You have any idea how many games Kaidus and I played in that shit for example. It also got me noticed in terms of my scout play and I ended up in a div 2 (would be div 1 these days) level team.
