Update: We are not allowing players to change nationalities, if you have played for a nation’s cup team, 6v6 or Highlander you are locked to that country and may not play for a different nation. If you have any queries please contact the admin team.
Highlander Nations Cup #5: Announcement
With Highlander Season 12 over but for the last playoff games and award poll – It is time for the best players of each country to group up together and prove that their country is the best!
The Cup will feature a Group Stage and a single-elimination Tournament, and will take place throughout June and July. Each country will be represented by one team consisting out of players of the same nationality, led by a Captain chosen through the applications process.
Highlander Nations Cup #5: Schedule
- Captains Applications: 16.05. – 01.06.
- Announce Captains & Groups: 02.06.
- Group Stage Round 1: 04.06. – 10.06.
- Group Stage Round 2: 11.06. – 17.06.
- Group Stage Round 3: 18.06. – 24.06
- Tiebreakers: 25.06 – 28.06
- Round of 16: 29.06. – 02.07.
- Quarter finals: 03.07. – 06.07.
- Semi finals: 07.07. – 10.07.
- Grand finals: 11.07. – 14.07.
IMPORTANT! We do encourage teams to make use of their roster of up to 20 players. Mercs will not be allowed! (Although we may be more lenient regarding the verification time.)
Highlander Nations Cup #5: Captains Applications
National teams are created and managed by Captains chosen out of submitted applications. Each Captain will pick the best possible roster from among their countrymen and lead their glorious squadron to victory. There are no restrictions on which players you can field in your team, so long as they are of your country’s nationality and are eligible to play in ETF2L.
To apply, send an email to [email protected], explaining why you should be your country’s captain and describe your planned national roster. Applicants who have experience leading successful ETF2L teams and a good reputation in the scene will be given priority. This should be self explanatory but you should include at least your nickname and your ETF2L profile link in the application letter.
Also please use the pre-fix [ETF2L] in your email’s subject, for example [ETF2L] HLNC5 Captain’s Application Germany.
Captain Applications will close on Thursday, June 1st at 20:00 CEST. Only approved Captains and their National Teams will be added to the competition. Up to 32 countries can be represented so if we reach that number before the deadline applications will be closed, however if we do not reach 32 teams we may have to reduce numbers to 16.
Highlander Nations Cup #5: Everything else
The map rotation for group stages will be the following:
- Group Stage round 1: pl_upward
- Group Stage round 2: cp_steel
- Group Stage round 3: cp_gullywash_final1 + koth_product_rc8
For the elimination stages teams will pick and ban their choices from the following maps:
- pl_upward
- cp_steel
- cp_gullywash_final1
- koth_product_rc8
- pl_badwater
The Highlander Season 12 whitelist will be used.

Italy will ally with someone who’s said to be winning, therefore leaving after he’s going to lose only to join a stronger alliance futher during the tournament. That’s how we usually do to win.

I passed this along to Karl and to Canada’s Andrew, so I’m hopeful we can get two NA teams in on this. I REALLY enjoy watching the Nations Cup every time it happens and seeing which countries can field the stronger teams.

Canada and US are in NA.
Canada and the US are two different countries, thus can field two different teams.
They will have to play on European servers and at European playtimes though (unless they are facing eachother).

Just for reference sake of the past rosters that have played already in past cups, we do allow more teams from other American countries as well to join in if they want as long as they’re willing to play under the circumstances that are mentioned above.
