Cooperation with TF2Pickup.net: Testing s20 unlocks!

In cooperation with TF2Pickup.net & whitelist.tf and in preparation for the upcoming season 20 we are pleased to announce a test run featuring a bunch of unlocks currently banned in ETF2L 6s.
We have already tried different ways of determining which unlocks to allow with each new season, ranging from premiership only polls to guestimating based on tearful threads on our forums. Each method suffered from different shortcomings. The feedback upon which we based our decision was always limited by the amount of users it came from, or the users were limited in not really having any chance to judge unlocks besides public play or usage in Highlander, which in the end is a wholly different gamemode.
So, to improve our gathering of feedback, we’ve decided to allow users to playtest a handful of unlocks which we are considering for season 20 in matches on TF2Pickup; there is also a special pre-s20 whitelist available on whitelist.tf which you can use for your own private (double) mixes! If you are using a gameserver with TFTrue or one rented on serveme.tf, you can use the aforementioned whitelist via tftrue_whitelist_id 2420.

Please bear in mind that this is merely a preliminary list. There is no guarantee any of these unlocks will make it into the actual season. There may also be other unlocks that will be allowed. We’ve also not entered every single unlock we considered allowing into this list, to keep it short and manageable. If this cooperation proves fruitful we’ll repeat it with other unlocks for coming seasons.

Well Cow Mangler have downsides in 6’s.
Smaller splash range and slower reload.

there’s no reason to believe this. they could add 6v6 matchmaking with etf2l rules tomorrow, it would only be upside for them
there are reasons why i avoid ugc 6s now there might be reasons to avoid etf2l aswell

I hate the idea of being able to one shot players with the DH and not be making the game 5v6 like sniper but at the same time the loss of generic damage unless you’re hitting 90% of your shots is huge. Lets see how it plays out and hope the admins follow feedback instead of a per-ordained decision.

It’s also hard to take feedback seriously from people who have quite obviously never used these weapons in 6v6.
Some of this stuff might sound good on paper, but what about actual gameplay?
Mindless bitching won’t get you anywhere. You’re wasting your time.
Play some pickups, use the weapons, evaluate their impact on the gamemode and THEN leave your objective, thoughtful feedback on the official discussion thread.
