New Highlander Weapon Bans
The latest update has brought substantial balance changes to some of the unlockable weapons. After preliminary testing, we have deemed it necessary to ban two of the updated weapons as soon as possible. The rest of the updated items remain allowed at this time.
The following items are banned from use in Highlander Season 5, effective immediately:
- The Diamondback
- The Short Circuit
Download the updated whitelist here. If you have a match tonight and cannot update the whitelist in time, please refrain from using these two weapons in your match.

Maybe the Short Circuit is finally a good sidegrade to Wrangler.
Diamondback is like a Frontier Justice for Spy, I think this should be reviewed.
SC was OP, being able to nullify most soldiers and demos at close range but diamondback isn’t OP IMHO.
good decision by admins to ban both, they’re both bs.
such a shame to see short circuit get broken and then banned, though, considering that it was viable and fine before, and now engis that used it can’t use it anymore.

I feel the SC and DB just need people to be used to these, like I think a temporary ban is enough.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see the Rescue Ranger getting banned too :(

I think it’s the right call to ban these two weapons, too big a change mid-season, best ban it then re-introduce it possibly for S6.

The short circuit was in such a lovely place. Probably the worst change I have ever seen happen to a weapon.

Short circuit was a great (and to me, a perfect example of a) support weapon – it could do nothing offensively, but could protect your team from projectiles if you were good with it. It needed tweaking since you had to be pretty perfect with timing, or die in a second.
Now, it’s been changed to give it massive offensive buffs which it isn’t for. :(
Right decision to ban it. Hope valve reconsider and change it back / seriously reduce the offensive capabilities of it.
I can possibly see the diamondback being reintroduced next season but the SC in its current form is just too OP to ever be allowed back.

If you had to choose to drop the SC engy or your demoman from a HL match which would you go for? My guess is that if you wanted to win you would drop the engy. Why? because the demo will do more work for your team… because he’s still more powerful… one could say his power is “over” that of the SC engy…

A short circuit that requires good timing and aim to deny projectiles wouldn’t be so bad. But this is making me cry ;_;
The weapon just denies other classes from doing what they are meant to do and will slow down the game hugely. It also has a really annoying sound now and huge DPS so you cant even melee engis.
