How GeaR is not in the soldier of the season vote escapes me, such a rock solid season with barely any slips. This circlejerk system is not making much sense in the end. Still – nice effort. And nice season to GeaR Mike and Minimoose, and Zebbo!

As I said earlier this week to Canfo – please never do a public system like this again. The nominees are a joke and it’s a shame for what could’ve been a nice award for deserving people. Bad ending to a good season ETF2L.

nTraum, these votes are supposed to be serious. It’s the season awards for the biggest TF2 league in Europe and the world, the people who win this should be known as “the best scout in Europe” etc for at least a little bit. It’s hideous to see a league as big and as known as ETF2L do such a nice job trying to be professional during the season and during matches, but then do an absolute hideous job of it after the season.
It’s a shame that, for example, after a lot of great ACTUAL talented people won the upward, now we’re gonna have to deal with a guy who 99% of the community has never actually heard of, and he will be known as “the upcoming talent in Europe”, but will probably quit tf2 soon or stay in Division 4 forever.

Pledge: The people in the vote aren’t some random scrubs though, and since there wasn’t really any div1 players who really improved this season (Like Stark last season) the opinions are quite scattered. From what I can see you didn’t even nominate anyone, and it seems to me that people who motivated their nomination properly made a rather big difference, so you could’ve done things to change the outcome.
Upcoming player of the season is basically a circlejerk award. Nobody knows all the really improving players so people just vote for their friends.
There’s no jh, fail awards.
Maybe I’m bias but I personally felt like last seasons system was a thousand times better. I honestly dunno what about it the admins felt they didn’t like, but it has to be better than this really.

kaidus, do you mean letting Pirate Radio host the awards? If you do, does Pirate Radio even exist anymore?! That’s the main reason we didn’t give the awards to it.
Also no one knows any of the upcoming talents because it’s a div3 or below only contest, something which many people didnt notice when nominating.
Well my answer comes in two parts. Firstly, yes we were ready and willing to do it. Had even discussed when we were available to make it happen. I understand that wasn’t made apparent, however, but such a system really does not require pirate radio. Nominations from a panel of people lacking down syndrome is really all it needs in place of the nomination thread. That’s all pirate radio did, we just got to have fun discussing them (which we still plan to do).
Pff, no love for my pyro plays.

In my opinion this was my best season in terms of performance and consistency. Since I achieved Soldier of the Season already, it’s no big deal for me, but I remember when elected community members where asked to do the nominees. Might consider to go back to that.
In enjoyed this season very much. The maps were superb and the rules also. All we need for next season are unlocks (6th cup unlocks seem pretty cool) so the game gets more varied, easier to become good (but at the same time also harder to be the best) and the most important of all: premier becomes interesting again.

This is fine. Just let the community continue to do it like this, and if a selection of prem players decide to do their own end of season awards which they feel are more ‘accurate’, then by all means do it, whack it on vanillatf2.org and host a show for it.
There’s too much of this, ‘a selection of players decide for everyone’ going on in TF2 as it is. Sure, this way might be a big circle jerk, or personality contest, but at least it’s decided by the community, rather than it being a circle jerk and personality contest decided by a select few individuals.
It might very well be better to have an experienced panel decide the nominees and then have the community vote for the winner (think xfactor), but the awards are, and always have been for fun :)

I agree that the awards are for fun, and anyone that takes them ultra seriously are mis-understanding the point of them. There are no prizes for winning any of these awards, if there were it’d be taken more seriously.

Because it might influence the results of the poll, but also, it means we all wait in excitement for the result :P
Considering the ETF2L is the governing body of the league, I feel the awards should be more serious rather than a community vote. A community based award is more appropriate to be handed out by a website like vanillatf2.org/teamfortress.tv . Just my 2p.
Not voted. I too think Gear did a heck of a job this season. Furthermore I don’t know any of the upcoming talents. And most surprising team of the season, pLine? (nothing against pLine, I really like their style, but they didnt perform well this season).
Yea looks like an elite circlejerk, what a shame. I mean got an airshot and even went ahead and did a youtube clip about it. YET I AM NOT THERE, SUCH BULLSHIT. FUCKING DISGRACE! BOYCOTT ETF2L!! RISE TO BARRICADES!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

@Andee, they weren’t the best, they were the most surprising. People were expecting them to be top 4 contenders and they came last. That’s quite a surprising result.
I don’t see anything wrong with these nominations, people crying over nothing. GeaR should definitely be in there and Vier Red got nominated ironically for the fairplay award but they got nominated nonetheless haha.

Yes to all points. I think your role in Epsilon means that it’s not always obvious how well you are playing though, at least from a spectators view.

I’ve had this issue for a long time with the awards, but I may as well take the time to say it this time. Please say what the nominees within the Fair Play Award actually did, rather than just giving a few names please give some sort of explanation.
