Live from LAN!

As many of you will know, this weekend the competitive TF2 community has descended on sunny Newbury to compete in the largest offline tournament the European game has ever seen. i40 has already produced some fantastic games throughout the Group and Knockout stages, with a variety of teams showing both brilliant examples of LAN crumbles and LAN success.

Now however, we’ve reached the serious stages. This morning, Team Dignitas and TCM-Gaming will meet in the Upper Bracket Final to determine who will proceed with a clean sheet of victories to the Grand Final, whilst down in the murky depths of the Losers Bracket, FakkelBrigade battle eMpathy and Epsilon fight one of the biggest surprises of the tournament, TwistedPlay. Keep up with the results of these games by following the one and only James “Admirable” McDonnell’s Cadred coverage.

The Grand Final

Update: The Grand Final is, as usual(!) delayed by at least half an hour, so will be starting at around 16.30BST. I have also been told by the Multiplay staff that they have installed crowd mics around the stage, which basically means we have to be loud!

The Grand Final is all set on the main stage for 16.00 BST, so make sure to tune in and support the TF2 community! At i39, Multiplay admins were amazed as the stats went through the roof with thousands of spectators watching on Source TV and through Streams. All the details will be posted here when we get them, so lets try and break the record from i39!

The Community Photo

Update: Due to the Lower Bracket Final being a Bo3, the community photo will be pushed back to after the Grand Final!

As is tradition, we will be having a community photo outside the Grandstand on the steps at 2.30pm. This is a fun way to bring our community together and a record of how we’re growing at the iSeries, so make sure you’re there!

I like how Byte was calling the game instead of casting it.

  15. jgmaster: BM said:

That’s how he casts. It was much better than the COD4 casting which I could have done after a 5 minute tutorial on the phrases I needed to learn. Namely; “X shutdown Y”, “X is scoped up on Y”, “Those set nades are crucial” and “X is heavily tagged”.

You’re welcome Koeitje, people like you who make it not worth helping the community. A brief summary will be done in the other post soon.

    Cheers

GJ KOEITJE (a.k.a kaidus#2) keep up the good work bra!

was great match fantastic spec skills from spence, made his pc artifact he was so damn hot :D

byte and dave nice commentating, yes mistakes are made but when you’ve got to talk for 2~ hours straight what can you do.

    :)

There was one bad ‘call’ by Byte. “They haven’t spotted the demoman going behind”. I facepalmed.

The others were all masked, which you won’t notice when you’re playing:
“Medic is running the alternative option” – Kritz
“Interesting positioning by Dignitas” – Ninja soldier
“Interesting class choice by Epsilon” – Spy/Sniper
“Let’s see how this plays out” – Shintaz backstabbing half a team twice.

I guess we can all agree that Byte, who shoutcasts like he actually made it to the finals, is much better than the CoD-style-commentary.

Also, Dave, speak up, don’t let that rambling muslim talk over you all the time! :D

My parents were watching, and my mom had to walk out of the room because it got too exciting – and that’s despite the fact that they have no idea how 5cp maps work. Byte really is the only one that can make a cast exciting for everyone. Thanks for all your effort, Byte!

I’m not talking about that Arie (although using the same lines 5 times is kinda…uh.. dull, but I guess that happens for the reason I don’t like his casts). Byte casts like he is playing the game, which is something I don’t like (but most people do it seems). I prefer a more top down approach with more patience and anticipation. Watch some SC2 casts to see what I mean. Or watch some horse/greyhound racing. Those commentaries build up to a climax (T stopping bling bust with the skin of his teeth, when the recovering is taking place the commentary slows down) and drop down after that (not the case for horse/greyhound racing of course, because the race is finished by then). Hell, just listen to a football game commentary. Byte just rambles on and on which just makes is very tiring to listen to, and also makes the real nice plays get lost. Just slow down a bit and use your enthusiasm for the really interesting moments. Will also give you time to breathe and will prevent you from using the same cheesy lines over and over again (Spence’s camera work was more than sufficient to see what was happening with spies, kritz and such). +Dave actually gets to say something, who’s more relax style is far more pleasing to listen to.

+ learn to take criticism and don’t play the personal card, it’s kinda sad.

(I presume the constant adding of Team/Esports to Dignitas/Epsilon was a promotional thing?)
