Statement

Date October 8, 2009

Both myself and deltron initially started things here as administrators along with day almost 2 years ago now. I’m not active in the TF2 community and so most of you won’t know who i am but i think its important that the following statement comes from me or deltron. I’d quickly like to address a couple of issues that have been raised recently in the community and on other websites.

Money

I’d like to start by clearing up the issue of money being taken from deltron. We spoke recently and both myself and deltron are satisfied that no money was stolen. I’m assured that there were issues with the advertising company that was being used. However at the same time etf2l is hosted entirely by deltron (he pays the bills himself) and we currently use our fair share of bandwidth and resources. I’m therefore suggesting opening a donations account at least until any real sponsors are found. It’ll be set up to go to weqo as id like to believe that most of you trust him (i do anyway). I can guarantee that any donations made will make their way to deltron and to start the ball rolling weqo has donated £50 and i myself will be making a donation too.

Deltrons only concern was that the site was making money due to the ads and he was receiving nothing for the charges we incur. We are only looking to cover a % of the total costs (which are £53 a month) anything above this will obviously be put back into the league.

Freedom of Speech

Id like to make clear that the forum rules are not here to stop you discussing issues you may have with ETF2L or its administrators. The majority of the forum rules are just common sense, many other forums have significantly stricter rules. Please feel free to discuss any issues you may have with both the league or its staff, just keep your threads clean. We won’t lock or delete your topics if you can discuss things in a mature fashion.

I’ve started a new thread here: https://etf2l.org/forum/league/topic-6878/

Furthermore i’m hopeful that there will be more changes in the coming weeks.

Cheers

ST8

so the donated money for hosting the site atm?

If the hosting is free then why do you want money?

From Gryzor’s posts I understood that “etf2l” (day) owed deltron £50 for hosting or something like that? Now you say that the site is hosted for free…

deltron pays all the bills himself, we take a fair chunk of his resources. I’m not saying anyone has to donate anything, but i personally am happy to support someone who has supported ETF2L from day one. Gryzors point was that he wanted to get deltron compensation for the money that he himself puts into this.

Edited the post to make this clearer.

ST8 I’d just like to say that I have a huge amount of respect for you from a professional point of view. Your dedication and development abilities have made ETF2L what it is today – a huge league with simple sign up and administration processes.

I believe your statement entirely and see no reason why others shouldn’t. I agree with Gryzor’s sentiments in a way, having been in a similar position to deltron myself, but at the same time he obviously knew what he was getting in to. I pay £80/month out of my pocket to host resupply and a few other websites on my dedi box but would never expect “compensation”. This is exactly the same situation as deltron.

I think it’s a good approach to set up a donations link.

Just a shame that it had to come this far. I think dAy could’ve done with adding some sentiments to your statement too.

weqo as ever the king of generosity, big thumbs up to you Sir.

Just to clarify a few things here. I own, admin and pay the colocation bills for the server that runs this site. The server cost me £750 and the colocation is £52 per month.

Originally I was just concerned that the advertising on the site was generating revenue and I wasn’t receiving any compensation for the actual monetary costs that I incur. All I was after was a small contribution towards those costs.

I am perfectly happy for there to be complete transparency with regards to any money I receive. I don’t host this site in order to make a profit.

    +1 to that

so you pay £52 per month and Gryzor gave you £50 before he split up here?
just for transparency, how often (months) did you get this swedish money?

I shall be donating £50 too as well, as im one of the lucky ones to have a job and earn a living and can afford to help.

Also +1 to what dunc said.

This still hasn’t been awnsered right?

We as FB have a dedi box (2 now actually) aswell which costs about 110 euros a month, to host a free mumble, srv’s, website, relays and ftp, just about anything to help the tf2 community grow, and still we have alot of unused bandwith (1500GB) each month. It prlly wont be of any help but if we can help you with any bandwith we would be more then happy to.

I would’ve donated some money instantly, if it wasn’t for the fact we’ve been supporting the community with our services for about a year now, i’ll still consider it though :)

Props to ST8, Deltron and all others who were involved from the start to get tf2 the biggest league as of yet!

<3 ST8, this is a good idea! But im interested in what other things the money from donations will go into if there are leftovers after the initial monthly cost.

Thats what I’m still curious about, as apart from the £50 cup that was held quite awhile ago I’ve heard of nothing else with regards to the money actually made from the adds.
