Nations Cup: Announcement
What’s the most requested competition in the European TF2 scene? Another Nations Cup! Today we are happy to finally announce our second ETF2L Nations Cup which will take place from September to October 2009. Every national team is invited to participate as long as you are fine to play on European servers and at regular European times.
System will be a classic World Cup mode: All teams will be divided into groups first. After the group phase is over, 1st and 2nd will continue at a straight K.O. phase. The big final will be played as Best of 5 Maps!
We also created a [Nations Cup Forum] for any related discussions or gathering of players for a National Team.

Mapping Contest: Final Phase
After some general organization problems about the end of the ETF2L Mapping Contest, there was an internal discussion about how to end the contest in a smooth way.
The final phase of the Mapping Contest will start with a public decision to reduce all submissions to a Top 3. Every map will get his own public poll where players will be able to rate it from 1-10. As everyone should have played a map before he rates it, ETF2L will set up a public server including all maps (hopefully done soon). Polls will open after everyone was able to test these maps on our server.
After the polls are over Top 3 will be included into an invite tournament with 8 top teams. These teams will be split up in two groups. First two of each group will go into the Semi Finals, winner of that will play the final. All participating teams do another rating of the Top 3 maps. Top rated map will be declaimed as winner.
The winner map will be included to the primary map pool of Season 6 and also be part of the next regular Cup final.

Also another punishment has to be announced. After joske was banned in May due to excessive flaming, he created another account and joined a new team. Of course he got caught and his ban will be extended for another 7 months till February 2010. Well done!

7 months is too harsh imo, considering his first ‘crime’ was perhaps not as bad once the full story has been heard.
On the other hand, the Nations cup sounds great, and it’s good to see ETF2L are taking the advice of the community with a public server too! WP

I’d say something else than a ban would be good… like “post something nice in every thread on the forums” or smth…
And what about the relegation/ promotion system of Season 5?

Div1 and 2 player already act like stock up twats whose noses are plowing the sky… I know they’re good and they have a right to be like that, but there’s one thing called: decency (spelling???).
As predicted Engineer of the Season I am quite disappointed at the lack of said topic. A offensive Engineer plays a vital role in any push map, and swears at the opponents to force them to fall back.

So we’re starting the discussion about the waiting list now, or do we wait until all teams on the waiting list start complaining? I feel all currently playing teams have earned their place next season, and shouldn’t be forced to set their alarm clock on september 6th at 20.00CET.

Sure beta. Griefed his opponent in a 1on1 “funcup” to the point he wanted to quit, being extremely rude to people in the cup, making numerous threats and spewing out garbage to more than a few people, almost ruining a clans season by joining them “undercover” as banned player. On top of that, every single incident was magnified by a factor of ten, due to the way he chose to handle it (by telling everybody involved to fuck off and handing out more threats). 7 months is not taken “out of the air”, but would take some explaining.

@ DarK – He has had more than enough chances, The ban will not be shortened or changed.
@ appz – You have no idea what work gryzor does as an admin. you go by the tiny part you see which is made public but are clueless to the work put in behind the scenes.
@ CHE – If your team finished 2nd in div3 then if that is a green slot then YES your clan will be promoted this season, just leave the extra spaces for us admins to sort :D

@ raCio – We will see how many sign up, the cap this season proves to be perfect, alot of clans still folded and ALOT were replaced, if we wasnt able to replace those clans that folded in the 1st 3 weeks then the league would have failed badly with some leagues finishing with only 3 teams. There is a waiting list for a reason so sign up fast and get your spot otherwise be prepared to wait

However getting teams to sign up as fast as possible might not be the best option. You need to be carefull to avoid teams rushing their lineup to be able to sign up.

Sorry to say, you haven’t actually answered my questions. What was the original ban length? I’m not interested in the reasons behind the original ban as it has already been made public by various forum threads and posts.
Though, I would like to know how 7 months was decided upon for him creating a new account, with a new nickname.

Original ban was 3 months, 7 months comes from the average of a deadlock in admin-votes with one side wanting 6 months, the other side wanting 12 or more months (up to permanent). The average (9) took into account of time “already served” since the offence (2 months), hence 7 months added to the original 3. The “firm” approach I would personally say is due to deliberately trying to evade set bans, risking a whole team by fielding a banned player. Add it together with my previous post and you get the picture.
Ok lets get this straight. Being rude to an opponent is not against the ETF2L rules, I wasn’t racist or anything like that. I wasn’t rude to anyone else in the Cup except from Sfynx, therefore couldn’t have made anymore ‘threats’ or ‘spew out more garbage’. The reason as far as I can see for the initial 3 months ban was due to be telling dAyKiller I think it was that ‘I hope Gryzor dies’, which was a provoked statement considering as soon as the Cup match between me and Sfynx ended you sent me a message saying ‘Ok, I give Sfynx the default win’, without looking further into the match for example stv or demos. After some hard work I managed to get you to atleast try and get the demos. You obviously only asked me for the demo which I should have recorded but didn’t (my mistake), than without even asking Sfynx you said ‘Ok that is against the rules, Sfynx gets default’. I told you to ask Sfynx which you reluctantly did, and Sfynx didn’t have either. So I offered to give to the stv but asked if a ‘non bias Admin with more than half a brain cell could deal with the matter further’, to which you started crying and being abusive so I put you on ignore after calling you a badmin for a while. This is when Daykiller contacted me and I pretty much said that Gryzor is a badmin and I hope he dies. For which I can understand the initial 3month ban.
Additionally It is very hard to believe that playing for a clan for 2 ETF2L matches almost ‘ruined’ their season. At most all they had to do was play the match again. I really can’t understand this statement whatsoever. After alot of people where wondering who this new guy ‘2SYK’ was on the scene, I told Blame about 4weeks after I had started aliasing. On a thread which wasn’t created by me but was about me I told people that I was 2SYK, so I openly admitted I was 2SYK. Also I was didn’t tell anyone to ‘Fuck Off’ unless they were seriously just trying to flame or something, which again isn’t against the rules anyway, and I certainly didn’t tell ‘everyone’ to fuck off. I think the way I handled it way I handled it was fine, I wasn’t rude or obnoxious to anyone, i offered my apologies if I had effected Blame in anyway whatsoever and explained by reasons for aliasing.
7 Months is simply outragous.

Me aliasing wasn’t an attempt to avoid by ban, at the time of creating it I had no intention whatsoever of even playing in ETF2L infact even when asked by Blame to play in ETF2L for them I didn’t think of my ban. As i’ve said ETF2L doesn’t play such an important role in my tf2 career, it is simply another league as far as I can see.
WildCard I never implied that you knew and have said publicly many times that no-one knew including those in Blame that I was 2SYK until I told them, and than after that they removed me from the roster asap. You obviously are still upset by the whole ordeal which is kind of wierd but whatever, and I have apologised for this. I offered help to you and your team with tactics and helping anty become a better demoman through mentoring. I probably didn’t see the point in talking to you after you flaming me on the forums all the time, it’s not like you’d listen let alone believe my explanation.
Yeah I agree waebi, I think it was put in because of me. I think ‘flaming’ as we call it on the internet, perhaps ‘taunting’ is a better word. It happens in all sports for example football, and so long as it’s not over the top or racist for example than it is not banned and seen as a bit of banter. So to ban it in an ‘e-Sport’ than that seems strange. :P

You told me nothing until i confronted you telling you the admins informed me who you was and you would be getting banned.
And the only part of your reply which I read at the time was when yo usaid somthing like

As I recall you msged absolute after one of the officials you played for us with something along the lines of ” seriosuly jsut get wildcard to make me main demo its obvious im much better” or somthing which was true.
But causing a divide between my team with that shit since I new admins were still looking into you and has explicitly stated you would be playing solly/demo as backup for 2 weeks until decided, caused a rift between some players.
And in the end its jsut fortunate for us that it was found out before the end of the season so that we did have a chance to reply some games which you played for us, because if it wasnt found out till after the season had finished im guessing we would of simply defaulted all of them. What I meant by the first quote was I told you I was after you confronted me, which was about 4 weeks after I started aliasing, was badly worded by me, my bad.
I was actually thinking of continueing denying I was myself because they had no solid proof, however thought it’d be best for everyone including Blame that I ‘handed myself in’ as it where. I could be a cock and say ‘ruining a teams season isn’t against the rules’ etc, but I won’t. The fact is I played as the main demo for less than a week for you and you seriously can’t blame me for ruining your season. If the matches which I played got defaulted to the other team than I would agree, I ruined your season, however this wasn’t the case. The admins did you and me a favor by letting you replay the matches to which the out come would effect your position in the league, if you lost them it wasn’t my fault by any stretch of the imagination.
Although this sounds bad I don’t play this game to be an asset to the community or a role model to lower division players, for example like dunc is, which I admire him for. So don’t bring up any of that, as it’s irrelevent anyway.

Okay, so -something- is going to be done about the extremely amateurly handled mapping competition, but this has been said before.
What are you doing to make sure people actually play the maps?
Why do you believe the popular vote will be a fair one? Individual players are easily influenced by their personal playing experience. Some people will do better on maps than others, due to playing style etc. and this may influence their vote.
When will this all be wrapped up…? There is no ACTUAL mention of a timeline…
Pardon my skepticism, but having my hopes be repeatedly dragged through the competition my faith is not at a high….
I dont know if such a question has been raised before my comment but id like to ask if there are going to be playoff like last season.For example a team that finished 9th in div4 vs a team that finished 2nd in div5,or if youre in a red/green zone you get promoted/demoted ?
If it was an extension it would run out in march, not february

it’s been extended with 6 months to a total of 9 months. The original period would have ended in 1 month from now. Now it ends in 7 months from now.

Does etf2l have any kind of community manager/public relations official? From what I can see, the only difference between most admins and joske is that the admins have the power to silence people that cross them, where as others just have to take it. The original ban was ridiculous so why act so surprised when it’s evaded? Bring in someone capable and intended to deal with interpersonal issues so things can be done properly the first time round.

If you dont feel any of us admins are capable then im sorry but no one forces you to enter etf2l and no one ever will, We dont want flamers, or cheats or people thinking they can evade a ban.
It really is a simple and small amount that we ask for, and 99% of the people can cope perfectly with our rules, those that cant will get themselves banned or play somewhere else.
Shame so many people play ETF2L. I would love to see what ETF2L would do if all the div1 + 2 teams decided to fuck off.
Who knows? Fact is we try our best to be fair and most people realise that, its only a handful that cant accept it.
And the fact you say its a shame just shows how much you care for the game, the people who play etf2l play it because we are by far the largest and fairest league there is which means if they love tf2 then etf2l is the place to be. Some will disagree im sure but i know more will agree.
Hardly fair if someone gets a 3 month ban for an admins incompetence. If an admin decides to ban one player even though BOTH players can’t provide demos then it’s obvious the player gettin defaulted against is gonna flip out. Should of been a warning at best imho. Also 6 months ban for trying to evade a wrongful ban in the first place is ridiculous when a hacker will only get a 1 year ban.

He got banned for not supplying the Demo after Sfynx made the complaint, not for the complaint itself. If he looked in the STV and it showed that he was indeed being a cunt to the extent that he was then fair enough. But the admin didn’t look to check and instantly gave Sfynx the default. I’d say that’s quite a bad decision for an admin tbh and i would of rage myself. So yes Waebi, I can read. Also longer bans for cheaters and shorter ban for josh.
He raged once and got a “small” punishment with 3 months,
then he again broke the rules (evading the ban playing etf2l match) so he gets a longer punishment – I think it’s fair
The only think I would see to improve the punishment system would be a probation for the first offense.
Something like you raged heavily so you get a 3 month punishment with 1 year probation time , then he does it again during the probation time and gets new 3 months and the old 3, so 6 months together.

That’s my point che, it was unreasonable for him to get such a harsh punishment in the first place i could see why he might get a warning but 3 month ban was ridiculous.
As I don’t know the full story, I’m not going to comment on the episode of Eastenders that’s occurred above.
