Replacements

Which Division 1 team will fold first?

Total Voters: 259

Loading ... Loading ...

I would say there is no better start of this passage then showing the results of our „Fun Poll” about which team will fold first in Division 1. Obviously 97% of the community was wrong as Excello made it like ColdFusion in Season 1 and IDAC in Season 2 with dropping out at the start of Week 1.

But Excello sadly isn’t the only dropping issue; anyway most teams are replaced already. All affected Week 1 matches got a postponed Schedule and Match Deadline.

Schedule Deadline: 3rd September, 23:59 CET

Match Deadline: 14th September, 23:59 CET

Affected Matches:

  • Division 1 – it’s a farm! vs. Ubersexuals (replacing Excello)
  • Division 2b – wotr3 vs. Totally Totalitarian (replacing Ubersexuals)
  • Division 3b – Prima Nocta vs. Czech tactiX TF2a (replacing Die Doppelnullen)
  • Division 3c – Babylon sh.esports vs. Tribunal Team (replacing T.T)
  • Division 4a – Gods of Egypt vs. Clan Crazy (replacing The Warlords)
  • Division 4b – GC Red vs. The Smash Project (replacing Legion of Benelux)
  • Division 4b – AWOL vs. Belgian combatants (replacing O’School)
  • Division 5b – ALK vs. Klan Rekreacyjno Wypoczynkowy (replacing Romania Training Team)
  • Division 5c – TWOL vs. Frag Test Dummies (replacing #db-gaming)

Open Spots (probably will have to stay open):

  • Division 3c – Special Air Services (Week 1 opponent: IsF)
  • Division 3d – ELEmentals (Week 1 opponent: Knifeback Mountaineers)

Playoff System & Nations Cup Playoffs

Date August 25, 2008

Playoff system

After a bit of delay, you can now see the season 3 promotional system on the division tables. [link]

If you end up in a spot marked green, you’ll get instantly promoted to a higher division next season. But if you end up in a red spot, you’ll have to play one division lower next season.

A new feature we have introduced this season is end-of-season playoffs. If your team ends the season on a spot marked blue, it’ll have to play a playoff match at the end of the season. The winners of the playoff match will get a place in the higher division for next season, while the loser has to go to the lower division. For example, the numbers 7 and 8 of division 1 will play the numbers 2 of division 2. The winners of those matches get a spot in division 1 for next season, the loser will have to go to division 2.

Most people will only have to play 1 playoff match, but due to divisions being unequal in size, there are 2 exceptions.

  • The 4 numbers 3 of division 3 will have a preliminary playoff, the 2 winners of that will continue into the real division 2/3 playoff.
  • In division 4, only the 2 best numbers 3 can continue to the playoffs. THis will be the ones with the most points.

This playoff system is to ensure that only the strongest tams go up a division and not have teams that are stronger go a division down in favor of a weaker team.

Nations Cup Playoffs

The group phase of the ETF2L Nations Cup is drawing to a close. There are only a few matches left, but those cannot influence who ends 1st or 2nd. Therefore, the playoff phase is near. We will get the playoff tree up in a few days, when all group phase matches have been finalized.

However, we can announce the maps that will be played in the playoff phase:

  • Quarter Finals: 1: cp_pro_granary, 2: ctf_turbine, 3: cp_badlands
  • Semi Finals: 1: cp_gravelpit, 2: cp_badlands, 3: cp_well
  • Finals: 1: cp_badlands, 2: cp_well, 3: ctf_turbine, 4: cp_pro_granary, 5: cp_gravelpit

As a last note, don’t forget that the Quarter and Semi finals will be played as best of 3, but our Nations Cup Final will be played as best of 5! However, the finals will end after 5 maps played at most. If need be, there will be a 3rd round on gravelpit to decide the winner.

Demoman limit + Season start

Date August 25, 2008

The classlimit on demomen has been subject to a lot of debate in the community. At most issues, finding the right answer was relatively easy, almost everyone agreed to the same. But not with the demolimit. The community has been very divided around this single issue.

However, decisions have to be made. We have thought long and hard about this. We took into account the results of the latest poll on the subject (found here).

After hours of discussion, lots of coffee and tired faces, it’s time to end this discussion.

We have decided for a Demolimit of 1, effective immediately for the ETF2L 3rd season and all future competitions. Our running competitions, the Nations cup and the 3rd cup will not be affected by this, they will be played out with a demolimit of 2.

Season start

Also, today is the start of the first matchweek of the 3rd season. Please schedule your matches as soon as possible. Normal procedure is that you have the time to schedule your match untill the wednesday of the matchweek. If you cannot reach your opponent, please post a challenge request on the match page.  You can find the match page by going to either the fixtures page or your team profile and selecting the appropriate match.

Don’t forget to tick the “Challenge” box and put 1 or more suggested dates in your comment if you want to reach your opponent. We’ll try to keep those unanswered request in mind when deciding on default dates.

If you have any more questions about the scheduling/results entering, you should take a look at our FAQ, found here

We also started thinking about a general Demomanlimit 1 again which community is discussing since months. For a better overview we started an unofficial Forum Vote on this and please as many teams as possible to give their vote. [Link]
