Looking for small, mechanical keyboard

I’m slowly throwing out stuff and trying to save space. One thing which I want to invest in during this throwout, to save space when travelling especially, is a small keyboard. I’ve been wanting to get a mechanical keyboard for a while now, so this seems like a pretty good excuse.

I have little to no idea about keyboards, but I’m wanting one with a solid tactile response and sound feedback. The G84-4100 looks good from what I can see. Are there any others worth looking at?

Funny you should ask, I was looking at this today: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Noppoo-Choc-Mini-NKRO-Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-Brown-/250888785457?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_KeyboardsMice&hash=item3a6a230e31#ht_6705wt_1163

That one has Cherry MX Brown switches but it also comes in Black and Red.

Pretty much the most-linked guide to mechanical keyboards that I have come across: http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide

The Choc Mini is a nice keyboard, go for the white over the black if possible since the keycaps are of a far higher quality.

You considered a TKL board?
Or something even smaller would be the KBC Poker, which is what I currently use, now love it, even though it took me a while to get used to it.

New boards coming out that you may like the look of, are the Race and Pure from Vortex (sized the same as a choc mini and poker respectively)

Based on your requirements, sounds like one with blues would be the best.

That was my impression, I do a lot more programming than gaming so that’s what I’m going for. From what I can tell the blues are the best to go for in that case.

Cool, drop me a line if/when you find it. :)

Choc mini is awesome although its annoying having a US layout

Also I love Red switches, they feel nice for both gaming and typing

I don’t look at the keys so that doesn’t bother me at all really (unless there is something more fundamental about it that you’re finding wrong).

Only problem I have is that the | key is in a funny place (above the enter button) could be I’m just not used to it

Actually I can’t even type that with the layout set to UK

ah, now that really could be a problem. thanks for that one. (though i suspect after a few days/weeks it would become natural again)

anyone have any experience with cmstorms? apparently it uses blue switches, and is made by the same company that makes filco stuff, at a fraction of the price. http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=16950ID2017&vpn=SGK-4000-GKCL1-US&manufacture=OTHERS
