This might sound a bit weird, but does your ping show as 5 on the scoreboard when it happens?
One of our players has a similar thing where he suddenly gets massive FPS lag, like 9-10 but his ping shows as 5 on the scoreboard when it’s normally 20 or so. Really weird.
I have no idea, couldn’t check my ping while it happens even if I wanted to, too laggy.

Either use the ‘start’ command, or http://edgemeal.110mb.com/PriFinitty/index.htm

Ah! Your pc lags, causing you to drop to 2fps, that’s not the same as getting an fps drop (well, the problem lies elsewhere, anyway).
(ps maybe have a screenshot of net_graph 4 while/after this happens?)

Uninstall graphics drivers, reinstall latest ones.
Uninstall tf2, redownload overnight.
Fixes like 99.9% of problems.
Could be anything from spyware (or w/e, stealing cpu cycles) to cpu throttling.. Have you checked your temperatures yet? It was asked several times already :p

Remove and reinstall your cpu cooler. Clean it and reapply thermal paste. If you don’t have an aftermarket (ie not stock) cooler already, get one.

2poor x(
just gonna clean mine… had a look at it and yeah its dirty as fuck lol
when im idling its at around 75 degrees…. is that an ok temperature to use the computer with? (ie. not risking destroying my pc)
75 is fine ish. Too high for idling though.. It’s not until ~100 that it’ll start dying (and you shouldn’t get there if you’re not stressing it). Btw a dirty cooler wouldn’t cause this – it’s much more likely that it wasn’t mounted properly. (by cleaning I meant the thermal paste that’s on it – clean all of that and apply new one)
