Timing out all the time

I formated my computer back in september and since then I’ve been timing out from the first server I’ve joined every time I launch TF2. That’s not too bad, very overcomeable. However for the last week I’ve been getting more timeouts, completely blocking me off some forms of gameplay. I’ve not timed out of one single match server yet, but it’s happening alot on pubs. The worst case seems to be the nervousenergy MGE servers where I have a granted timeout after about 30 seconds. It’s also happening randomly on pubs. I can’t really see any pattern, and I’m a retard when it comes to computers, so nothing has been tried so far. Any bright ideas please?
router dieing
Do you get a message when you try to reconnect?

“Steam Validation Rejected” or something. But then after a minute or so when the server realizes I’ve timed out I can reconnect just fine, and get another time out.
@AnimaL Is that possible tho, considering I only time out on certain servers? I mean if the router’s dying, shouldn’t that cut my acces to any server, the webbrowser, mumble etc?

It is based on the router, but it’s not a dying router.
It’s how the router handles the port usage afaik

Have this all the time, it’s the router. You need to replace it, no other way to fix it.
Maybe the telnet suggestion works, but you can’t do that to a home hub :(

if it is a speedtouch/tomson router (normally supplied with BT/O2/be/others), it is fixable, but i have got lazy in my old age and can’t be bothered to do the leg work, search the steam forums, or google it

why would you get a router you cant tinker with. In fact, why would one get ANY product that is impossible to modify to one’s liking? :(

your laziness seems to be quite bad these days :D

Thanks for the tips. However they are abit late; as usual when it comes to technical problems, it randomly fixed itself.. I don’t get computers, I really really don’t. :p
Not timing out anymore though, so I’m all set for now. :)
If it was indeed your router, expect this problem to come back soon.
