Also try and find a group that is roughly as experienced as you are. One of the biggest joys of this game is the exploration bit, the finding out how everything works, what stuff you can find, what stupid actions will lead to your death, etc.

And play on US servers when you’re playing late, so that it will still be daytime on the server, unless you got balls, because nighttime is a bitch. You can find EU servers that will be daytime at night, but they’re rare.

Pro-tip if playing at night time, just boost your gamma and brightness to the max and enjoy your nightvision…
also there are EU servers with -/+7gmt.

Feels lame touching gamma/brightness, I mostly just avoid playing at night. Maybe if I find NV goggles one day. I have tried though and it sure helps, but does it work on Hardcore servers? To me everything(but the sky) was just plain pitch black even with maxed gamma/brightness making visibility pretty much zero.
Haven’t played in a while now, gonna try out all the new shit tonight.

the brightnesss of nightimes is deffinately a server side variable; on some servers i found that even with gamma and brightness maxed i could barely see the ground in front of me yet in other servers with them both maxed i had virtually the same visibility as daytime

I want to play this but still have no clue as to what I have to buy to play this, how much it costs ETC

I spent 30 minutes last night trying to get on the right patches for OA/Arma 2/dayz to no avail, it kept telling mevwrong version whenever i tried to join a server :(
