Also, the blacks require even more force than normal mechanical keyboards which require more than standard membrane ones already right? Blues and browns are the most popular too I believe.

blacks do not require more force than rubber dome keys. Average pressure for a rubber dome keyboard comes in at around 50-60g to make contact. as does a cherry black

hey to clear things up a bit here is a list: (yes its copy pasted from overclockers but people never read that when you link it, its too long)

Blacks: Actuation Force: 60g (40-80) overall
Browns: Actuation Force: 45g (55g Peak Force)
Blues: Actuation Force: 50g (60g Peak Force)
Reds: Actuation Force: 45g
Clears: Actuation Force: 55g (65G peak force)

I don’t think those cherries do nkro, you’d better check the geekhack wiki on that. Also those cherry keyboards are fairly light and not as well built as other mechanicals. If you dont go mechanical, don’t get the cheapest keyboard you can find though. Get something that has decent kro @ gaming keys.

That specific model does has no key roll, but the keys are lasered. So they have smooth slippery keys. If you want red switches, with more rough keys and good looks and better quality, you’d best look at choc mini keyboard, or flico 104 with reds. The choc mini is less expensive. They have those in brown and reds. I saw the flico 104 on gamegear.be for over 200 euro’s. It has keypad extra though (I was tempted, but it’s an insane amount of money).
What surprises me, is that there are no LED versions to be found. I really love LED keys in the dark, when I’m gaming :)

I wouldn’t buy the black edition, I had it for 2 days before i sent it back and bought a standard one again. The sides look more “grippy”, but in actual fact they are slippery as hell… playing straight after a shower was a massive no in that respect because the mouse literally just kept falling out of my hand… not sure what Razer were thinking for this one.

So as pretty as it looks i would steer clear, if you want something a little different check out this guys ebay store, my brother just bought the dragon age 2 version: http://computers.shop.ebay.co.uk/PC-Accessories-/171959/i.html?_catref=1&_fln=1&_ssn=shop4up&_trksid=p3911.c0.m282

If you want a “laptop style” (scissor switch) keyboard just buy this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/78-key-compact-slim-usb-keyboard-black-160cm-cable-44378

Also if you buy anything by Razer that isn’t a mouse you should probably get your head checked.

As for the “portable” headset, buy one of these http://www.dealextreme.com/p/32328 http://www.theheadsetbuddy.com/Smartphone-iPhone-Headset-to-PC-Adapter-35mm-to-Dual-35mm-01-PH35-PC35.htm and use any iPhone earphone + mic combo, eg http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/MEElectronics-M6P-BK-Black-Headphone/5198670/product.html?cid=133635

What’s wrong with the Blackwidow keyboard?
By the looks of it, it seems to be the only decent mechanical keyboard that I would buy

It’s okay. But the coating wears of really quickly and makes it look and feel like shit. And you can’t replace them on the razer keyboards, because they use non-standard caps.

Davib

Bought the LG based on your recommendation, its a beaut!

Thanks for doing this.

nvc: I’m looking to get a 120hz monitor, what exactly was your problem with the BenQ one? I’m torn between that and the LG. I’m mainly looking at the BenQ because its LED, so i automatically would assume it has better image quality.
