The beta for Heroes 6 was released yesterday to people who have pre-purchased it. The full game will be released on September 8th. It’s been interesting to follow the series, going from the originals Heroes 1/2/3, through the experimental Heroes 4, to the more 3D-oriented and uncharismatic Heroes 5.

Anyone else here who plays Heroes? Because I thought I’d play the beta tonight and share my thoughts.

only did the first 3, everything past that was horrible, kings bounty is much better nowadays :(

Yeah, I think almost everyone would agree on that. In my opinion, both Heroes 4 and 5 were decent, but not nearly as magical as the previous games. Heroes 4 was a bit harder for me, since it has a lot of new and experimental features, some of which partially ruined the game for me. It had some great features as well, which were implemented in Heroes 5. The reason I don’t like Heroes 5 much is simply because it doesn’t have a good atmosphere. It’s also pretty annoying that you have to turn the camera to see certain artifacts or resources on the map.

You can’t even see what the buildings are supposed to look like, especially when they’re covered by a coloured layer. I just want to be able to see all the buildings clearly in one shot, like this: http://hdwarriors.com/images/stories/heroes1.jpg
