So you ever helping people in the ETF2L forums, let me lay this question down. Does anyone here own one yet? I am considering to buying one during this summer and creating a home theatre in to my living room. The “ever annoying nagging and washing machine” has given me the green light on this project and now have been bit torn between a 1080p 2D projectors and 720p 3D ready projectors. I have been doing some pro’s vs con’s on both parties and I have decided to go with 3D projector, just because movies are so much more interesting this way. I would like to know your experiences on these 3D projectors, if you have any.
I do not care for your arguments how much better 1080p projectors might be since I more interested in 3D movie watching and possible single player gaming from 90-120″ screen. 1080p 3D projectors are not an option since I am not going to invest 5000 -> 9000 euros on this “3D movie theatre at home” project of mine… well at least not to start with.
At start the source material all would be running trough my PC since I already have nVidia GTX295, 120hz monitor, 3D Vision glasses + IR Emitter… but the 24″ screen size is bit limitting factor here what I want to eliminate. All suggestions will be appreciated, but like said, I want a entry level projector to start with, since I have absolutely zero experience on projectors.
My options so far:
Acer H5360 or -II-BD version (1280×720 Native, 120hz, 2500ANSI, 3200:1 Dynamic, nVision Support)
Benq W600+ (1280×720 Native, 120hz, 2600ANSI, 4000:1 Dynamic, nVision trough hack)
Optoma HD67N (1280×720 Native, 120hz, 2000ANSI, 4000:1 Dynamic, nVision Support)
other possible models, but bit hesitant because of the reported issues one scaling and such what comes because of the 16:10 native resolution:
Viewsonic PJD6531w (1280×800)
Optoma GT720 (1280×800)
Optoma HD66 (1280×800)

not a single reply in a hour, nobody has a projector setups at home here ? I honestly don’t know what should i be looking for in them other than some “projector for dummies” guides.
Buy a decent plasma ( or lcd if you really have 2 ) is what the rest of the world does.
Put your chair closer to the tv :)
Really.. What is wrong with the world… A 65″ plasma should suffice.

did some quick research:
It seems it would be wise to wait for the 1080p 3d projectors to drop in price… or indeed a 720p 3d projector would be the only affordable solution.
Can’t find any comparison/review site about the damn products though.. Only a continously updated list in this section which seems pretty complete. Only remaining option for you is to check and compare all stats which I refuse to do due to the amount of time it will take.
I think you’d be better finding a home cinema forum to ask for advice. I know a bit about projectors myself, but i filed this under “not my best area so i’ll leave it to someone better informed”. I wouldn’t imagine most people here who know even less would do the same.
Chris knows everything
I fear we don’t want to know :)
Iv got a friend who has one of those 1080p 120hz projectors. He doesn’t have the 3d glasses though. Its cool for gaming, however, by no means is it necessary, in fact its rather annoying having such a large screen most of the time.
Its really good for social environments, for watching movies with friends/ other people game. However due to the awkward set up of the desk and projector, and having such a large screen, its not really all that worth the price if you are in it for gaming on your own.
I would recommend getting something like a 40″ 1080p monitor if you are looking for a top end gaming experience.
And if you dont like my 2 cents, then perhaps this is more relevant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScD4K2Oh_9k
