as far as i can tell, it’s not a monthly subscription fee, it’s a recurring fee for ‘extra’ content

So instead of charging for DLCs they charge a monthly fee, additional to the 60$, and then another 60$ the year after, what a ripoff.

Who didn’t expect this too be honest :P

This is probably the first baby step in the direction of a subscription based CoD. Test the waters to see the reaction, and if you build up to it slow enough most of the people who buy CoD probably wouldn’t even notice.

Why anyone would pay for that, its basicly like steam, but it cost.

A few quotes I liked from reddit:

Even so, I don’t want to shell out 60 bucks and play as a second-class citizen online.

The reason this is destined to be a disaster. Either the premium experience will be significantly better, causing many to purchase it leaving those who don’t with a 2nd rate underpopulated project (leading to major backlash) or there will be next to no noticable difference between the two experiences, in which case having the “premium” package becomes a symbol of mockery (stupid enough to pay extra for what everyone else gets for free) so the few people will subscribe to the service.

I don’t understand how decisions like these are made.

Also, the sad thing is it will probably make a killing, prompting other publishers to follow suit.

Only if you could have like hundreds of players on a server for cod (planetside!) would i pay a monthly fee, i gave cod a chance when i bought MW2 as i loved cod1/2 but i’ve given up on them now its just a boring generic shooter with stupid gimmicks.
BF3 don’t let me down.

I read somewhere that BF3 will feature servers up to 256 players.

Doubt it, i believe its 32 on consoles and 64 on PC. You’d need one hefty server and someone with a lot of money to host a server that big.

I doubt anymore than 64 will make it enjoyable anyway.

With 64 you already get quite a clusterfuck, so if you allow up to 256 imagine how many of those people will be idiots camping vehicles or camping @ snipe spots not doing anything usefull.
