this though i couldn’t give less of a sh’t about
why are you posting then?
Although I wouldn’t take any myself, I actually don’t have an issue with drugs, particularly weed. But don’t delude yourself for one second there are no long term health effects.

the most senseless war on earth is that waged by muslims and other religious freaks towards the civilized world. this is a cause id be more than willing to help, be it by money or manpower. this though i couldn’t give less of a sh’t about
Thats a much trickier subject than prohibition, as religion has many faces. There’s also the problem of free will, even if that means willingly subjecting to a backwards religion.
Outside of making sure that State and Church are completely seperate (they aren’t at the moment even in western countries) you can only hope people drop it themselves, forcing them out will not end religion.

What’s a civilised world if a random man/woman that is put in charge by other people tells you what you can and can’t do with your body, otherwhise they will take your money or put you in a cage? Seriously, can’t stand this arrogance… It’s not like our society is perfect.

Thing is though, drugs have repercussions. They don’t just affect the user. They affect the user’s family, friends, the people that some users attack/steal from in order to pay for the drugs/whilst high from the drugs.

Not a random person, also is it ok for you to put anything in your body? Our society is no where near perfect, but it is really not the lack of weed that makes it so, how about the vast inequalities between rich and poor, the unfair education system, massive overspending, environmental issues, wars over resources (more wars over water and such than religious wars btw), still racist/sexual ideas in society? Any of those more important that an illegal substance?

I assume you also want to see the following banned in that case :
– Alcohol
– Nicotine
– Fast Food
Because if you don’t, that point is sort of meaningless.

All of those problems require equal attention, none of them are more or less important than the other. All of those problems also have people passionate about them working on trying to change those issues for the better.
People get involved in subjects they are passionate about. It will take time to fix just one of those, getting one done can also have a positive effect on the other.
The root of all those problems is political or financial though. It’s all part of the same system.

In an ideal world for me, those would be banned too. Unfortunately that’s not going to happen – the government makes so much money from it.
Just got a great mental image of a fat yank, charging round the streets of New York with a knife, mugging people for his next Big Mac fix!
Good point though Ele.
@Wabby: They could make a shit load more from taxing drugs

I don’t want to live in your ideal world, it sounds like a boring unimaginative place.
The only people who want drugs legalised are the ones who use them. Anyone else who considers that drugs are actually good are in it “because it’d solve the problems”. But it doesn’t really solve any problem at all. The difference is you won’t be locked up for abusing. It’s not about freedom or that kind of stuff, it’s about the REALLY BAD effects drugs have on people. Be them physical, mental, or on your close ones, maybe even people you don’t know at all(robbing them, hurting them so you can afford another dose). Taking a look at the average high Joe. He’s got money to afford drugs, but he can’t always find a supplier, which means that he won’t get drugs as often as he can. Take the law away, and our average high Joe can buy drugs whenever he wants, and soon ends up a trainwreck with no money. What does he resort to when he has no money? Stealing, “borrowing”, mugging, assaulting, etc. As you can see, the only REAL difference, is that he won’t be thrown in jail for using drugs. That’s it. Oh, and you’re pouring all of your money into politicians pockets, because if it’s gonna be legal, it’s gonna be a controled environment. You won’t be buying from that nice guy with the trenchcoat down the stread, no sir, you’ll be buying from pharmacies. Which will be supplied by companies owned by politicians.
Then there’s the other effect that can benefit certain people who take advantage of druggies. If people are high, naturally, they’re stupid(they’re not stupid because they take the drug, even though the kind of are, they’re stupid because they’re ON the drug. mental effect), which means that they’ll be even EASIER to manipulate by the people who supposedly want their good, or not. A stupid society is very easy to make believe. Just think of how many people can take advantage of this. Politicians, bigtime corporations, hell.. even your average salesperson. Or that guy who calls you and asks you if you’re interested in buying a dictionary.
Just think of the unlimited potential for manipulation this thing could bring. Sure, one might argue it’s the same with alcohol, because, well, it is. That’s just the first step, drugs are the next. In most countries there’s that spice crap, that all the young people do. That was just a marketing strategy to get them hooked up on shit. If everything’s gonna be legal now, the youth’s gonna be fucked up entirely.
Just think.

Alcohol banned in stores near you soon!
Weed has done more good than bad. Case in point; bob marley (indeed it wasn’t the weed that killed him :D)
