What does Charge and Targe bring that makes the game so exciting? Is it fun to see a demo zoom around a corner with the click of a button and one shot a medic? Sure. Is it viable competitively? I’d say no.

It just introduces far too many variables, when there is a subtle metagame in place already through positioning, rollouts and aggression without the uber. Unlocks wreck this and introduce a completely different game. We don’t like it, the Americans do. That’s the extent of it.

Now compare this to Spike’s statement. As a human being, which would you prefer? A short, terse statement saying “get good, they know more” or this, where it’s patiently written out in common courtesy? Its so much easier to understand things when they’re put forward in a manner which is both concise and courteous, rather than saying “they didn’t get there by random, so I suggest you get good and follow”.

FYI this isn’t an unlock discussion thread, I just used it as an example.

Again, if people can’t seem to understand an argument put forth a million times, then as I said above, put them in the “my idea is better than yours, fuck off” category.

I’m taking my time to actually write this because I want EFT2L to grow to be a more civilized place without resorting to bans and nazimoderators, but if the community is still stuck with this mindset, then implementing a TL-style forum moderation is the only way to get people to start respecting each other, voicing out their opinions constructively and generally not make anyone feel like shit under your boot.

also, I have to say it yet again: People only seem to hear “BAN”. That’s not the way to go, and neither is it the way it WILL go. You cannot simply change a community of fatalists and trolls in a huge swift ban wave. Yes, banning certain extreme “elements” may be something that’d do discussions good, but it should really not be necessary. If people get the idea of “being constructive” and “thinking before posting” into their heads, much drama can be avoided.

Maybe you can get some pixel admins to nazi along with you on @etf2l is you ask the admins here nicely skyride.

ETf2L would need different admins anyways to make this work.
