Anyone care to recommend a good monitor? A CPU too if you don't mind.

Gonna replace my monitor very soon but I’m not sure what monitor to get. Atm I have a pretty shit one (not that bad but not great) by a company called ‘Onn’. I want the highest resolution possible to be at least 1280×1024 but preferably 1600×1200. I have no idea what I want to pay.

tl;dr
Recommend some ok but not super amazing monitors with at least 1280×1024 as the max resolution. Preferably with a good Hz or w.e

Also I wanna replace my dual core with a quad core without replacing my motherboard. here are a few CPU-Z screenshots to show my CPU and Motherboard.

Don’t waste your money on upgrades that don’t add that much value – instead go for new motherboard/cpu/ram altogether.

lool i5’s dont fit an AM2+ socket quad

+ 1 on spike aswell, im sure u could get a good bundle (probably not world class but decent) for the same price as a decent monitor, it seems very hard to find a AM2+ processor(aria, dabs and overclockers uk only stock AM3)

I don’t have THAT much money to spare. I’m getting a new PSU for free from a mate of mine so that should fix some problems but then i just need to get a stable fps and I’m PRETTY sure that it’s my CPU that makes me lag.

Buy a cpu now and get +2 fps, or save up for a while to replace the lot and get +50. It’s up to you of course :)

I have a Samsung 2233rz 120hz monitor. I do love it but there are better 120hz out there. The resolution only goes to 1650 x 1050 i think. But yea, definately get a 120hz monitor if you are looking to buy a new one, it does make a significant difference. Not quite CRT standard in terms of refresh rates, but the next best thing!

Imo thats just stupid. You can always just wait and wait to get the new releases and never get a cpu. Just buy one. Sandybridge gonna give enough fps boost.

I think he meant not going for an am2+ quad, but instead saving up a bit and then getting a new mobo/ram/cpu altogether. Besides, it’s only like 300€ for a 2500k and a mobo?
