Anyways, 99% sure to go for the HD25

I use my SR80i’s at my computer when I can’t use my speakers. For my iPod I use a pair of Denon AH-D1001’s. The main reason for this is that the SR80i’s are totally open, so the music can clearly be heard by people around you, annoying them, and potentially embarassing you. Especially if you listen to wierd music (like me).

Yeah, that’s why I’m probably going for the HD25’s. Found a guy that actually lives nearby that is selling a pair :). Don’t want to have people look at me weird when I’m playing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQbsVNnPjkc :D
pretty much anything senheiser.

Thanks for this very constructive comment, because pretty much all sennheisers don’t suit my needs :P

Contrary to popular belief, Sennheiser has probably made just as many bad headphones than good ones. It’s just that they pump out SO many models, there’s bound to be some gems between those.

Jays are awesome too yeah… I don’t like in-ear monitors but I have their cheapest V-jays model (which according to experiences sounds as good or even better than the more expensive C-jays model). Amazing soundstage and meaty sound for such a small headphone.
Btw Koeitje, do consider thatD1001 model mentioned by Flogan! It’s universally lauded as one of the best low budget closed headphones. The Sennheiser is a good bet too. I really like the transparency and naturalness, albeit sometimes tóó dry, of that headphone. Don’t really like it for comfort, the (not really soft) earpads just rest on your earshells. In terms of durability, that headphone is one of the most rugged ones around though, so it’s good for mobile use.
I’m afraid that these are in-ear, but the sound quality is exceptional and there is zero leakage. They also work well for passive noise cancellation.

The MC5 headphones are coming in at £40-50
HD25-1-II with velour pads (they’re included with that model).
Very comfy, great sound quality and virtually indestructable.
Another pair to consider is the Audio-Technica ATH-M50’s.
They’re a bit cheaper than the the HD25’s, and the sound is as good or better (based on my own preference)
Oh yeah, and they’re the coolest looking things ever.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. I don’t know what to do. Namu, help me.
Grados have awesome, i mean AWESOME sound table and overall quality and bang for the buck (unless you go for the top tier products). Downside: they suck at long periods of wearing on your head. They just ripped trough my head and I found my love within sennheisers camp.
Anyways if you want a good bang for the buck and looking away from senn’s, then i will try to meet your request’s and price range. These are worth of checking out, only listing the stuff what I liked a lot:
Audio Technica ATH-AD700 is about 100 or under, insanely good headphones and lots of bang for the buck. I mean that this might be exactly what you are looking for, really good for all around use. Also really big and confy even for 10h+ use in one sit.
AKG K701 (~200, weapon of choice for my brother)
AKG K271 (~150, lacks a lot on bass if you ask me)
AKG K242HD (~100, half open, but awesome phones for the money.)
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro (80 ohm, so needs a amp, small and cheap would be just fine. lots of bass. ~150)
Ultrasone HFI-780 (really good bass phones for bass heads)
so. check those out. ultrasone is harder to find, but they are really nice. I would go for audio technica if I were you, i think they might fill your needs perfect.

also a hijack question : will senheiser hd555 will do ok with ipod nano older one ( i think its 3d or 4th )?
They will eat your battery so fast, get a portable amp and your good to go. (perfect choice of headphones btw, imo the best entry level headphones after 595’s to get in to hi-fi world of headphones)

Shape looks fine to me, don’t want big headphones. They won’t drain my ipod battery I hope (if I get 10 hours of battery life instead of 15 I’m fine with that)?? I’ll be using a fiio e1 to get a little bit more power (just ordered it, if it fails its only 15,- gone). My ipod nano can’t really drive my AKG k142’s unamped, but they are like 55ohm and have much lower sensitivity than the HD25s.
