How bad is it? I wouldn’t know, as I don’t think i’ve owned a mouse with prediction on before, but it seems there are plenty well recommended mice on the market which a lot of people claim have prediction (zowie ec1/2 + mx518).
I’m looking to get a decent mouse for gaming that will replace my deteriorating microsoft habu. Should I avoid prediction like the plague?
Recommend me some mice :D (or mouses)
mx518 has no prediction. what u on about?
The prediction on the mx518 made almost no difference to me apart from making it somewhat difficult to adapt to one without but i picked up how to handle it in a week so meh.
Go CM Storm Sentinel

Yah the 518 has no prediction unless you install Setpoint which just fucks the mouse and makes it badddddd. NEVER install logitech drivers! Best piece of mouse advice I’ve ever received and I’m passing it on to you son!
If you’ve gotten used to it with Setpoint installed – uninstall and allow yourself time to readjust and I promise you will notice a massive difference.
I used to use mx518 before switching to old DA, for the first week or so my cursor was shaking all over the place moving it horizontally. Just goes to show the bad habits you get using mice with prediction
Since when didn’t you want your aim to be accurately represented? Must be the worst fucking idea since sliced bread. It serves no other purpose than covering up a potentially shitty sensor. There are enough diversity in non-prediction mice out there to suit your personal preferences, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to buy one with it. Consider these:
MS Wheelmouse Optical (my personal preference)
MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0
MS Intellimouse Optical 1.1
Logitech G500 (if you’re in love with the MX series grip)
There ought to be more.
I have a lot of experience with the first 3, but not the last one. The MS mice are all very lightweight and buttons don’t require a lot of force. They have negative acceleration in you don’t change the polling rate to over 250hz, which isn’t as easy as with most mice (not that it’s hard).
this is the mouse i use, dont have any problems with it

lol? yes it does, and it’s hardware based, so let’s not have that ‘setpoint introduces prediction’ bullshit

Anyone know of a guide to increase the polling rate? I tried googling it but just got some shit from reviews.

Jesus Christ lol
Microsoft Habu :D like it.
Did You use the software ?
I recommend Logitech G500.
Use it without Setpoint software ( ITS BULLSHIT)
8.12 sens in-game & markC Windows 7 Mouse Fix.
Deathadder Respawn
Xai. Its just shape preference. Acceleration, prediction, all doesn’t really matter. Unless you buy a Kinzu, that thing is so fucking wank.

Yea, took me a bit of time as well. I use hidusbf http://www.fatal1ty.com/downloads/mouse-tools/hidusbf-zip to increase the polling rate, and mouserate http://www.tscherwitschke.de/download.html to check the result. Don’t get worked up about the value fluctuating, it depends on how fast you move the cursor and whatnotelse, it’s due to a limitation in the program and not an accurate representation. Untick the box and see what peak value you get. It’s sufficient to figure out weather it’s working or not.
