GOOD! Because I need someone like that.

Tomorrow my new i5 sandybeach rig is arriving and I will need some wizard to answer any retarded questions.

Also, what would be the easiest way for me to transfer TF2 to said PC, I can convert my whole username folder via iPod, can I do the rest with the other files? I don’t really want to download TF2 again, ’twill take ages.

So yeah, if someone would like to give me a hand with any panic shit I have do add me on steam.

Cuddles will be offered.

FADe

Nope, but if you right click on a game in your library you will see ‘backup game files’

AnimaL

yeah u can save whole steam directory and just move to w/e folder or pc u want

on first steam.exe start it will ask if you want to install steam service and after that it will be working

Or do it the other way around – let steam start the download, then close steam, then copy the files over, then start steam again :D

As Tik said, yeah, you’ll probably want to return that motherboard and get a fixed one, you can thank Intel for that.

But by far the best method I’ve found is to:

Copy entire ‘Steamapps’ folder from one PC to external harddrive/ipod/etc
Install Steam
Copy the Steamapps folder onto the new PC
???
Profit

If you don’t reinstall Steam, you might run into some weird registry or service problems (steam:// shortcuts not working for example).

I’ll send the mobo back when they have the b3 ones, I have a gigabyte one so they’ll exchange it regardless :D

Still this effects 5% of them I might be safe until the replacements are in.

5-15% depending on heat. If you just use the SATA600 ports and not the SATA300 ports you are also safe, since it only affects the 300 ports.

AnimaL

unless ur planning on using more than two HDD you could might aswell just use the one u got

WARHURYEAH

Yeah, still going to get a free upgrade mobo anyway even if I don’t see any problems :D

there is no upgrade… they will just give you a newer revision that prolly wont even have anything new other than new metal layer

I don’t know how many SATA600 ports you got, but I bet you also want a dvd/blu-ray player/writer.

reactioN

no need for new mobo, just use the 2 sata 6gb ports for your hdds ( if you just have one hdd then its even betteR) , for dvd use 3gb sata port

the bug isnt really noticable on dvd drives

if you bought a good mobo then its even better they have 4xsata 6gb (2x marvell controller)

bug only appears when you transfer alot of data on the affected ports and on dvd drive you dont transfer so much that you would notice it

you would notice it when you use a big ssd tho

idiots going panic again
