It’s not unlikely there will be a nonsteam pre-engi-update version online shortly after the engi update :)
Yeah, but I love teh pldx recording tool, it has made my life so much easier. Also to put things in prespective I have only just got SVP working and I still am have problems loading my team’s old demo’s in the pre-mac tf2 I have, so I am going to get the recording I have done. I realised as I got to school that I left pldx recording a demo…. I think my hard drive is going to be full when I get back.
Also I am ahbing trouble with demo smoothing, my hl2 crashes when I set a key, although this might be that I am using a lot of memory…

I hope you’re not attempting demo smoothing with the Pldx tool? Because that certainly doesnt work, and you need to do it through console. THere’s plenty of good guides on how to do this, in text and video forms.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a site with pre-matted materials (preferrably an animation), to used as the template for the name of person in teh frag video.
pldx did the best tutorial ever, vegas used effects should be used at all, vegas 8. dont have high requiments
I have a problem cos I am dumb. So I want to edit a clip in SVP, then colour correct/ add effects in After Effects, then encode it with MeGUI. How do I do this? Is this the right order, basically I really need help in understanding what to do.
Also, does MeGUI save the encoded video somewhere else? or does it change the video and overwrite the save?

AS well as bumbing previous statement I also would like to knwo how to use keyframes so that I can get a pre-matted video to move out, the name of a person doing the frag to appear and then close back up. I am using this tutorial:

but as you can see it does it for a still image of the animation.
Some of these should help:

Good luck, have fun. Feel free to add me on steam and I may be able to help out a bit. I’ve been mesing around with vegas quite a lot recently and have some idea how to do most things, all learned from the types of videos I’ve linked above. There are loads on youtube, loads and loads.

kk, all those were reall useful and I am already messing around with them, so thanks. The next thing I really need to know is how to make them high quality, atm I am using this tutorial: http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=319750 and I am not really sure if it works as the clip I was test I managed to mess up, so, from this I have two questions:
First: Is this a good tutorial and what do others use who make frag videos. I saw in one tutoiral link that people render from SVP, but I am a little confused what I should render from and encode etc.
Second: I think the reason why my clip got messed up was because I tried to edit the clip in AE before putting it in SVP. I was wondering what is the best method to use, do I edit it first in SVP or add effects in AE and also how do I go from one programe to the other without the need to render it and turning the clip into a terrible looking image.
I should state I am recording using PLDX recording tool, recording using tga’s, compressing with Lagrith Lossless codec in Vdub and then editing form there.

I don’t know much about the whole video editing thing, but as I understand it, you want to do your editing BEFORE compressing anything.
For the few small clips I’ve put on youtube, this is what I’ve done:
1. Record TGAs & WAV from TF2
2. Put them together in VDub and render an uncompressed .avi
3. Edit the uncompressed .avi in Vegas
From here on things got a bit messy because I couldn’t get the compression to work in Vegas, so what I did was:
4. Render edited clip with Vegas [uncompressed]
5. Open the edited uncompressed clip in VDub and render compressed
Probably not the best way to do it, but it seemed to have worked for me.
Hope it helps :)
Well… if it is true that I shouldn’t of compressed them before hand I will cry, cos I deleted all tga’s after I was done with them as my hard drive would of been filled, can anyone confirm this? Cos it means I have to go back and re-record everything… if I still have all the demo’s
depends, i guess…if you ‘compress’ with lagarith, then it’s fine…well, in the other way, it’s not
afaik, decap uses a kinda same method, just he uses ae and premiere pro, instead of vegas and ae
import the videos those have been compressed by lagarith into ae, apply color correction and w/e, render into lagarith and then apply the other effects in vegas/premiere pro
