I really don’t get it, why people still think that instagibbing at close range is balanced in any form with a nearly-hitscan weapon, I tested it as well, it’s quite easy to kill numerous targets. Please stop your cheap talk about your pretended preference what you’re using later, you simply don’t know it.

Of course it’s the scouts that whine about instagib…, as if a 1.5-shot with the FAN (stun) by a scout with decent aim was any different.

So far the soldier was only used as bodyguard to the medic and as spamming help to the demo and scouts, due to the fact that the other classes are even more useless. The games were decided mostly by scouts or demos. And before any whining and flaming occurs, of course a top team needs top soldiers, but they just weren’t as important or game-deciding as top scouts+demo.
This might change with the update, and of course the scouts + demos are pissed to give some of their advantage and importance.
For a long time everyone has whined about soldier being a skillless class to play due to huge splash radius, now that the RL was tweaked to a weapon that requires more skill but is also more punishing, as it has so far been in any other game (qwtf, tfc or etf anyone?) ppl whine it’s overpowered when the soldier has aim because they actually get killed.

My opinion:
– the minicrits have to go or get tuned so they only count in a decent height, otherwise the TDH is great.
– Bugle is a no-go in competitive gameplay because a team to win the middle will just have too much of an advantage.
– Pickaxe is great.
– Gunboats are fine, they are basically useless in competitive area as they only reduce dmg from shots to the ground and not wallshot-dmg. And who cares that they are random drops when they are useless? I find it pretty useful to be able to identify teammates by their unique dropped headgear, in fact to me it’s more useful than the gunboats that I found and won’t use due to their uselessness.

I’d like to see a poll segmented into classes Medic-Soldier-Scout-Demoman (only active players of season 6 allowed) about maxdamage ( > or < 125) of TDH.

Don’t think you guys have grasped it yet, TDH is shit. It’s a single target attack weapon that (against good opponents) offers nothing in return; the 25% extra damage is useless because a direct hit does say “80” at fighting range, but the regular RL against two enemies close together (when fired between them) would deal “60” a piece, or “120” in total – also with the horn nobody is going to run TDH soldiers.

arent you focusing one target..to get him down very fast..and isnt the TDH very good at it?
when you use to get to the aim it can be a realy pain in the arse

iam not saying that the DH is op….i like it even as medic….but they have to remove the mini-krits

atreides, please stop it. As I said earlier ban the weapon or live with the direct kill on close range. Without it it’s useless.

Haha, tried that Buff Banner 5min ago for the first time on a full server, was fun to see 4 Soldiers and 3 Demos fireing away with mini crits and destroying the other team completely. Imba indeed.

After some time, the medic gets bored that his fighting classes suck. So he takes of his suit and reveals that he’s Superman. Then he get laservision, ability to fly and xray-vision (wallhack). And yes, bullets bounce of his chest.

However 3/4 metres away also did 132hp damage is that considered close? Really?

Mid ranged does around 118hp on average if you hit it right then mid/long range does around 90-110hp, for me its too powerful, needs nerfing to max damage up close and i mean UP CLOSE 0.000001mm close basically 135hp damage if the scout is around 2/3 metres away then 115hp, or somewhere around there…

This isn’t meant to be a “Golden Gun” i.e. 1 shot kill : >

What do you consider mid range? I consider the length of a crate on granary the start of mid range.

Remove the mini-crits from the direct hit and then allow it. The direct hit is more situational than the original rocket launcher. If a soldier or two choose to use the direct hit then they are choosing to be more situational. In a spamfight the original rocket launcher is much better but in other situations the direct hit is better. The weapon trades the original’s versatility for more situational power. The soldier has always been a class that has been useful in any situation but not as useful as other classes, this brings some new life to the class.

The equalizer is a straight buff to the soldier class. I can understand this being banned but I don’t think we should get too fussed over it. I would be quite sad to see this banned because soldiers have always been very reliant on a medic. This allows them to survive better without a medic.

The gunboats are hardly anything to worry about. Most soldiers will not give up their shotgun for them. I recon they should be able to be earned through the rocket jump achievement. That way if demomen were given them aswell, they could be earned by their sticky jump achievement. Even as they are, they should not be banned.

The buff banner is seriously over powered and I don’t be surprised if it is banned. This is an extremely fun weapon to use in pubs but too powerful in the hands of a decent team. I hope that valve alter its buff to be fun in pubs and not overpowered in competetive play. I like the idea of it increasing the fire rate instead of causing mini-crits. The difference between this and jarate is that someone who has been hit by jarate has a chance to retreat to safety.

Sorry, but this is ridiculous Ydor. Soldier never was a skillless class and even without instagibbing capability there’s enough boost to utilize TDH.

PS: just lol about recent rant. At least you can use bold text :)
