If you insult someone regarding their nationality and their people, using THEIR native tongue, it’s practically the dictionary definition of irony.

Because English is literally the only language 90% of the British population understands, because they think they are too important to learn another language. You have to speak in cave man language for a cave man to understand you.
EDIT: I may be exaggerating a bit, but that’s to make a point. I can’t tell how many times I’ve encountered the attitude that you don’t need to learn another language because the everyone understands you anyway. This is not true and you miss out many possibilities to communicate with speakers of other languages. I will digress now because this is completely off-topic.

You don’t HAVE to learn other languages, it’s only recommended that you do. Since English is a global language and everyone knows it (or at least think they do lol), the British don’t feel they have to learn another language.
On a side-note.
Can I say that I know 5 languages since I can talk “Swedish” and “Danish”.
ETF2L forum is now Esperanto only. Ĉiuj estas egalaj nun.
