If you make one more post about heavies and sandviches I will fist-of-steel you at lan.
Yes that involves anal activities.
I’d better make some more then ;) Sucker has already promised me some fisting.
But really, I know it’s annoying to see me post about the same thing all the time, but someone gotta do it – there aren’t any others who mainclass heavy as far as I know (at a decent level). Therefore no one cares, except for me.
Forever alone.
(Possibly played my last-ever official with heavy as main class yesterday, makes me sad :( )

Not playing anymore though, right?
Riemu, Pace, Haunter are the ones I can think of. Haunter being the only active left, using it only as situational tool.

I think the ‘annoying’ part applies more to how your points don’t make sense. You mention the heavy taking too many heals because he is focus-fired. But how does the same not apply to every single other class? The heavy is focussed BECAUSE it is a powerful class with plenty of health, which is precisely why your point is invalid.
I would say the exact opposite is true; the sandvich is so incredibly overpowered it should never have been allowed in the first place.

Don’t want to be rude but I think most of the community cares about the heavy. Though not in a positive way, I think pretty much nobody besides you wants it to be a viable mainclass :i

We run Quad as heavy when we need to slow the enemy the fuck down. Its kinda gay, but hey…it works. HWG is sick on GP to.

Can you explain to me why it is so incredibly overpowered, yet not a single team uses it in div3+ as a mainclass except for us? If it was so overpowered as people are saying, more teams would use it. Teams want to win, if heavy would be an easy win, people would use it.
Reason is because there are so many cons with running heavy for the team as a whole, it needs sandvich to be worth using. Heavy as a package overall, is not OP.
– It’s extremely slow. Pushes can’t be as fast as we would want, I can’t move to another side for a different push before it’s too late.
– If the other team knows how to focus, then heavy will be extremely hard to play
– You can’t fall back if you have an aggressive hold, best you can do is go in and suicide and try to kill someone while doing it. As an example I have to jump towards a demoman with kritz instead of jumping/running away to have the slightest chance.
– Steals huge amounts of heals from the rest of the team (even with sandvich its really bad)
^ This is the key thing, if I have sandvich it’s possible to handle the healing okay for our medic, but without it it’s impossible for either me or our demo/soldier (whoever the medic decide to not heal) to get the health we need. That’s when Soldier is a better choice for me, even though I’m maybe 2 divisions better as heavy.

Because most prefer vanilla.

I think it’s more because at div3+ teams start having teamwork, focus fire, are generally doing faster play and moves, which actually makes heavy hard to play.
Playing heavy against a mix team or teams below div3 is extremely easy, and I can agree heavy is OP against teams with no teamwork, but whos fault is it then? Heavy demands and tests the teamwork of the other team.
Team Decerto is a good example of that. I don’t think any of them are extremely good DM’ers, but their teamwork is/was fantastic, which makes heavy a pain in the ass to play against them.
Allow Sandvich in div2+ where it isn’t OP then, and it will be fair to lower divs.

I’m perfectly happy to roll a heavy for an entire map, it’s perfectly viable, it’s just rather boring to do, and to play against, and in the end doesn’t seem to give a particular advantage over the standard lineup anyway. Oh, and you really don’t need the sandwich.

If you say it’s fine without sandvich for an entire map, you must be playing rather passive/defensive as heavy right? That doesn’t require sandvich to the same extent.
The fun with heavy that I think most don’t use/know about is when you play super aggressive, but that demands sandvich and good team co-ordination. Playing passive/defensive heavy is extremely boring, I agree, both for the player and the rest of the team. But aggro heavy is different :)

Maybe it is and maybe it isn’t, but Sandvich makes the ‘passive’ heavy ridiculous. 600+HP to kill. Sure is “fun” and “balanced”.
