Hi,

Im a CSS player and was at I40 this weekend and watched the TF2 finals (which where amazing) and iv been thinking of ditching CS for TF2 for some time now.

Would be great to get some scrims/mix’s with some players prepared to show me the ropes?

Im not terrible (mid CSS team) but i just dont have much knowledge about competitive TF.

I have steam, xfire, mumble, vent and TS3

Hope to hear back from you guys

p.s i will play any class, although my play style is normally pretty aggressive

Play some public / deathmatch, try the classes to get a feeling for them. As you’re from CSS, you might give the Scout a shot. :)

And welcome.

Glad to hear our community interested at least one person with our crowd! Best of luck finding a team to play with.

Team Popo!

aren’t css’ers good snipers in general?

but 1.6 still > css :P

Scout aim is really nothing like cs.

I played 1.6 for 6 years or so but tf2 is really nothing like it. You’ll have a lot to learn about 6v6 but as long as you have decent aim it shouldn’t take too long.

Add me on steam and i can give you a quick rundown if you’d like.

Don’t feel pressured to pick a main class, i found it easier to start wide and specialise later. i still can’t do the demo jumps well for instance, and don’t have time to relearn them properly so i could never play it seriously. Any class can be played aggressively so don’t worry too much about that.

Hey
For quick pickups I would advise: http://www.tf2lobby.com . The skill level is not high but it’s a decent way to start. For some deathmatch practice you could hop on to one of the TF2DM servers: http://etf2l.org/forum/general/topic-9853/?recent=193419

Other then that, be sure to accept one of the friendly invites from the people here and have some mixes with them.

Welcome mate! :)

Pretty sure I saw some CSS people at the i40 final, you didn’t happen to have “/afk” shirt on did you? :P

Anyways ye. TF2 is a great game, just learn the basics of 6v6 (i’d offer but kuma seems a better pick having played CSS himself, can +1 to him being an awesome guy) and go play some matches! TF2Lobby is really just to get a general gist of the gameplay, in terms of gamesense, its a lot better than a public server, but still a long way below even div6 standard. The whole game is far more gamesense/thinking heavy than CSS, so really, gamesense > aim (but it does help, a lot).

Anyway, most of all, have fun! The best advice I could give is to just find a bunch of people you like and play with them, a lot. See if you’ve got some friends from CSS who want to jump ship too, probably the best way to go. :)

Also, add me to friends if you like, I can probably get you in some mixes. :)

wMiC?

Welcome to the community! You’re making a great decision ;)

Lots of good advice has already been given, the only thing I can think to add is simply be patient with yourself. I think lots of players who convert from other games often ask too much of themselves, mainly because as they’ve already (semi)mastered one other game so think they should pick up another faster.

TF2 is quite a unique so don’t worry if it takes a little bit of time to really get to grips with what’s going on. That said, with some good teachers, you can pick it up very quickly :)

All the best!

DarkSlayer

Thanks :)

yer i just want a faster paced game than CSS, its getting boring now :P

Look forward to getting in to this :)

I Recently changed from Cod4, I very quickly adapted to Scout with no problems, but i had the upper hand, In cod4 I was what is called a SMG, which is a class where u basically, Sprint the fuck to the spawn and/or Enemy’s and bash the fuck down with hardly any recoil.

Just going to tell u now.
TF2 is very organized imo.
Everyone knows where they are going, so make sure you do too.
Watch some demos, which have Mumble included, just so u can get the feel of what its like.

Psyche

Pretty much what everyone else said.

As far as my opinion goes, changing to tf2 is somewhat taking the next step into a more complex gameplay.

However, once you adapt it’s all good fun :)

(Btw: CoD4 is great for a part-time game <3)

Stimpy

add me on steam. happy to let you merc for IDK2, and welcome btw.

good CSS players make good snipers as can be seen on our old frag video, the guys only had about 10-15 hours sniper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c411-2A4jq0
